Today’s Jumble haiku:
(Certain rhymes, when they hit the ear at the perfect time [metric], seem to have the ability to excite the nerves, or calm them.
Others are like the slow rush of the washing sea…)

A Rhyme (Ooh) in Time

Sometimes a rhyme can
warmly soothe an ear—or cleanse
one, as a tide sweeps.

I write poems to soothe my mind,
Rhyming verses two lines at a time.
It comes easy to my typing stylus,
With the Muse, Erato, as my stylist!

Without my gift, I'd be lost at sea.
No purpose left in my life, I'd see.
I'd be adrift, without wind or sail.
A slave of the tides, doomed to fail.

But Thalia, the Muse, has rescued me.
She has me write humor, warm and free!
It makes reader's feel good, I hope,
At my doggerel verse, and corny
jokes.

If being a poet is my destiny,
Well, there are worse things I could be.
(Like a politician or evangelist on TV.)

To his job as a bagger he went.
Superboy was super efficient.
Soon he ran a register,
Did it practically in a blur --
That's why he was known as Clerk Kent!

"Vital Verse"

It took Tess a bit of time
to come up with a lovely rhyme.
She needed it for her bridal,
an event she hoped would be tidal.

She mentioned her groom warmly
and admitted how much "he did charm me."
In the end her rhyme did both soothe
when read in their wedding booth.

Do you feel like you are stealing someone’s job when you don’t go to the cashier at the store?

Two-Timing

I dallied at the store;
Choosing a product is such a chore.
Is there any rhyme or reason
To finding a syrup for the season?
I needed something that would soothe,
And help my swallow to be smooth.
Perhaps too it would warmly coat
My painfully sore throat.

Now my dilemma -
Clerk or self-checkout?

Owen- yes, your rhymes do make us feel good. Keep it up.

Yes, WC, the W had some lesser used letters today. Owen, gives us the cashier (as did I in my J poem) while OMK gives us the British vs. American pronunciation (but no U’s in the spelling LOL). I loved Owen’s riff on Clark Kent.

Owen and OMK give us background on rhymes. Misty’s Tess has a practical use for rhymes with her wedding. Here Muse must have been strong, since both she and her groom were soothed.

Misty's Tess seems to need her rhyme for her wedding--perhaps for her vow? If so, let's hope her groom is speaking his piece in kind.
Or he'll rue
his "I do."

CanadianEh! poses an ethical challenge for the supermarket. I think it reveals the clod in me that I never (before) pondered this labor/management problem.
I thought it was to just speed things up for the customers.
Heartless me.

We are glad that Owen has found his purpose, as we're the lucky beneficiaries. We may not be the main reason he creates his verses, but we are happy enough to observe from the sidelines!
