|| || theft, orbit, merely, shaken, be there shortly.

Wouldst thou steal a kiss
From an acceding miss,
When the moon, in orbit high
Glows upon her lips so nigh?

Is it truly an invite,
Under cloaking of the night,
As she turns to you her face,
Offering oscular embrace?

Or is it merely your emotion
Gendered from hormonal ocean,
Shaken by proximity
To her femininity?

Will the theft be met with bliss
Of an adolescent kiss?
Or will there shortly be a slap
From misinterpreting a gap?

A charming poem to start our week. Thank you, Owen.
I particularly enjoyed "ocular embrace." I fear such intimacies may be placed on hold for awhile--with our new concern for "social distance."

Solution hint:
The firing range sergeant explained that a shot to the torso of an approaching opponent will usually stop him, unless he is of stout build.
"Your fat foe can absorb more hits than your average or slim perp. Beware portly types," he said; "obesity is bad for your health."

Er, oscular...

The solution was even easier than the clues, telegraphed as it was by the cartoon.

Like your poem a lot, Owen, especially the rhythm of its meter. (Don't quite get gap, though.)

Lots of gifts to start the week, beginning with a fun puzzle, a neat Sudoku and Kenken, and then this cute Danny Devito cartoon followed by Owen's delightful poem, and O'Man Keith's clever gloss on the solution. I did have to work on the third and fourth Jumble word a little, but then looked at the cartoon and had the solution even before looking at the letters. Obvious, but still fun.

I woke up this morning with my eyes red, the right one especially. Are they bleeding or what? I've never had this before and am not sure if I should see a doctor or just wait it out for a day or two. Dumb hassle on a day with such fun puzzles to start the week.

Sandy -- turn to face someone and the gap between your faces is smaller than anticipated -- is it meaningful or just awkward?

Oops. My post disappeared. Great poem, Owen.

Thanks, Owen. I get the gap idea now.

I was writing earlier that Danny found his ocular match with Rhea(Pearlman).

I went round and round on #1 when it finally popped.
