In the sidebar at right (web version), I've finally gotten around to deleting Uclick from the list of Interactive Puzzles Online, since they no longer carry the Jumble, and replaced them with the Jumble home website in the Site Descriptions section. The home site runs the J4 7 days a week.

Owen, are you back? Is this temporary? Permanent?
It's good to hear from you. I sure hope you're feeling better.

"Pete's Success"

Pete was a bit of a runt,
but he sure knew how to punt.
He'd pant and he'd grunt,
then perform a great stunt.

A circus with a famous brand
came to hire him to be on hand.
It was a great job to land
so he joined them on their demand.

His performance made people giggle
as they watched him twist and jiggle
and they loved it when he'd wriggle.

His work gave him no bother
and pleased his mother and father.
He'd produced a brilliant career
that made people clap and cheer,
and that thunder of applause, he felt,
was a victory under his belt.

Neat, multiple rhymes, Misty. It's always fun, I think, to discover what story lines develop purely from the way our language rhymes.
It makes me wonder again how the different tongues rate in terms of rhyming possibilities. We suppose English is more restrictive than, say, Italian--the language of opera--with all its vowel endings.

I apologize in advance if my little poem should give offense.
It is inspired by the 4th season of The Crown and speaks its mind in the language of our friends, the British royals.

"Have a Belt of This"
"Oh, it's no bother! It gave me a bit of a giggle.
I admit I wasn't expecting my milk to be laced with rum.
You guys are a brand apart, playing 'Ibble-Dibble'
with unsuspecting house guests. It's rather a bum
way to welcome newcomers, but the kind of stunt
that reveals who's a sport, and who's a real c**t."

I just couldn't get the riddle-solution until I saw Misty's rhyming's. Duh. Never saw the Crown but yes the Royals today aren't that much different than Prince John's crew. My poems have been showing up late.

Ol' Man Keith, you generally have a bit of a salty spirit in your poetry, so this one was par for the course in that respect. And the edge has worn off my feminism sufficiently that I can only shake my head and chuckle these days. And you did a great job incorporating the Jumble words.

Nice to see you check in, Sandy and Wilbur, and look forward to your next poetic saga, Wilbur.

Thanks for understanding, Misty.
The irony of course is that the upper tier of the royals (excluding maybe the Queen who rarely shows her hand) are the ones who, when mistreating unsuspecting guests, reveal themselves as the...
-- well, er, the non-Sports.
