"Shake Well Before..."
The Civil War saw the widespread use of chloroform
in combat medicine.
At first experimental, it later became the norm,
a way to suppress adrenalin
for field surgery. A leaky cloth was wrapped
over the patient's nose, inducing a speedy nap.
It was best applied outdoors where fresh air
could revive any subject whose vitals were impaired.
Following an anesthetized procedure, patients
would be consigned to lounge in sunny stations.

"Wedding"
The bride couldn't wait for her troth,
her gown shone with satiny cloth.
Her friends were funny and cheeky
and laughed when her tears became leaky.
Since she was just a bit needy
her wedding schedule was speedy.
Her friends worked hard to scrounge
donations to pay for the lounge.
The groom was handsome and tall
and determined to give her his all.
The couple trembled and shook
as they married, to look
to a future, full cup,
that lifted their spirits up.
[Quoth Beaumanoir]
"That a man of the cloth should pen such a missive
May his soul be damned. Malvoisin, seek out this witch
For a trial I shall enact and speedy justice I shall give"
And burning at the stake suffice for the sorceress bitch.
Albert was all shook up that Sir Brian's secret had leaked
He found Guilbere lounging in his cell.
"The jig is up sir Brian, we must act and do it well
Deliver up the devil's daughter or we'll both be up the creek"

Those are yays!!!
And YowZah too!!!!
I hope those are for Misty and OMK, both superb today. I especially love Misty's paean to young love and a springboard to a happy marriage.
OMK described in hopefully terms the early efforts to relieve pain. Now we have trained anesthesiologists with 8-10 years of school.
Meanwhile Sir Brian has a dilemma:Give up Rebecca or face disgrace.

Wilbur,I'm continuing to follow the story you recount. Look forward to each episode.
But no, all those 😄😄 etc were for the ELECTION!
Woohoo! Woohoo! What a relief after all those days of anxiety and trepidation. Woohoo!
And another Woohoo for Ol'Man Keith's and Wilbur's delightful poems. Woohoo! Saturday's don't get any better than this!
Woohoo, indeed!
A special Woo! today, coupled with a great helping of Hoo!
WooHoo!!
Our national nightmare is ending.
The real work is about to begin, an uphill battle to be sure, but in the meantime we can take delight in seeing the good sense of our country overcoming our bizarre experiment in cultism.
It is refreshing to read another optimistic Misty paean to love & marriage, in which friends come together as a community to support the bride on her happy day.
No darkness here, no devious dealing as in Wilbur's deftly crafted scene in which Beaumanoir finds pleasure in that old oxymoron, "speedy justice."
~ OMK
Speedy justice but not impartial. As Beaumanoir outs it:
" we will judge and condemn. The witch shall be taken out of the land, and the wickedness thereof shall be forgiven. Prepare the Castle-hall for the trial of the sorceress.”
And.,.
But concerning this foul witch, who hath flung her enchantments over a brother of the Holy Temple, assuredly she shall die the death.”
