|Smiley face| _conga, munch, outage, eldest, one and (the) same.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Yes they are!

Haven't even looked at the clues yet, because the solution phrase just jumped right out at me. I guess it's a two-part pun, if a pun it actually is. The meanings seem quite literal and straightforward to me. Put together, the terms make a common phrase that has probably never been applied to numbers as such, but still . . .

"Career Change"

Connie had always played the conga,
but decided she wouldn't any longer.
While munching on her lunch,
she began exploring a new hunch.

A period of outage could create
a new page for getting on stage
and maybe earning a better wage.

So she decided to move out west
to pursue her eldest quest,
and as an actress she passed the test
and is now one of the best.

Life is now longer one and the same,
as she enjoys her delightful new fame.

Glad to see Connie’s plan worked out & her hope prevailed. She sure beat the odds which are so severely stacked against aspiring young actors. Most do not see “fame” but wind up shifting careers (again), settling for a desperate marriage, or even—in a few scandalous cases—as the subject of unsolved murders!

Happy to see both Sandy & Misty here already. The irony is that I knocked off the following poem much earlier than usual, read it to my wife, then promptly fell asleep before posting it. I slept late too and am doing this now while still in bed.
Do I hafta get up today?

Here it is:

Keeping up appearances in the blackout at
”One and the Same (Dance & Sandwich Bar)”

Despite the power outage, we were fine.
We continued to munch
our lunch,
while my eldest joined the conga line!

You did it--as always--Ol' Man Keith! Worked all four Jumble words and solution into a very brief verse. Bravo!
