The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Tuned-In Artists
“Method” actors forgo derivative input,
even from an Oscar-winner director,
whether roles be crowned in laurel or smeared with soot.
Each source must be true,
not a supposed guru,
but one able to pass a lie detector.

If you've figured out how to see the embiggend picture, you'll see that's not a birthday cake.
Keith, google "right-click on a tablet", see if the instructions make sense.

Thx, Owen, I enlarged (zoomed in) via a 2-finger spread.
A neat surprise!

"Cooperative Couple"

Bob thought it would be a lucky boon
to win a prize by drawing a cartoon.
His wife immediately gave him input
that got his drawings off on a great foot.

She shook her head, or gave him a nod
when she saw improvements in his method.
This saved him when his spirits were low
and his project he therefore did not forego.

Woohoo! His cartoon was a first prize winner
and the couple celebrated with a great dinner.

You inspire memories, Misty ~
no, not of drawing cartoons, but of great dinners!
I am no gourmet, but I do appreciate fine dining. Starting with a long, long-ago dinner at Ernie’s in San Francisco, I went, at different phases of my life, in search of top restaurants.
No, not any more. In fact the last such phase was a score of years ago in LA. I can still picture the courses on the tables, but can no longer even remember the restaurant names….

OMK, maybe if you won a prize for a cartoon, your wife would take you out for another great dinner at that restaurant in LA!
Worth giving it a try.

Nice suggestion Misty ~
But no, with my drawing skills (and lack thereof) I shall stay content these days to dine out just on our birthdays...
& stick to nearby OC chains... Outback, PF Chang, the garden of Olives, &c. &c.

Hey, the last time I ate at a restaurant was probably a year ago, at Las Brisas.
So, have a wonderful dinner and a wonderful time at any of your chains.
We'll look forward to learning how it all went.

I enjoy Las Brisas.
The food is just OK, but it is the location that is superb! What views!
We used to go there every Mother's Day. The crowding was actually one of the attractions, at least in pre-pandemic times.

On other holidays, whatever restaurant we choose, we prefer to avoid crowds by going one or two days after the holiday itself.
(The food is just as good on the fifth or sixth of July.)
