Today’s Jumble haiku:
(These words evoke perplexity. But to whom, & by whom?
I pondered for a while before settling on the picture of a fairly dim-witted fellow, one who started out happily on a picnic, but now stares uncomprehendingly at his dessert…)
“This is Unheard Of”
“I can’t fathom how
a prune doused in honey can
so engage these ants!”
~ OMK
The gardener did busily douse
the lawn and plants around the house.
He also liked to feed each bird,
and its chirp and song he happily heard.
At least once a week the trees he did prune,
which the owner considered an extra boon.
The gardener was quiet and did not engage,
but still was paid a living wage.
One can fathom how the care they did share
made gardener and owner an agreeable pair.
FLN, Misty ~ So very sorry to read of your DMV experience! Our run-ins with gov’t agencies can be harrowing. We create them to serve us, but they can become our Kafkaesque masters.
I gave up driving voluntarily a few years back after two minor fender-benders. I donated my last beautiful Jaguar to Kars for Kids—and keep a lovely photo of it being towed up our street…
I am fortunate that my younger wife never complains when I need to be driven some place, although naturally I cut back on places I choose to visit.
Mainly doctors’ offices. And when we celebrate with dinner out.
And yes, Uber & Lyft may be convenient for you. I have not tried them, but I have noticed that on the rare occasion when I have called Yellow Cab, they are no longer punctual & seem generally sloppy. A reaction to the new competitition?
~ OMK
Your poem, Misty, captures the sweet symbiosis of a modern homeowner/gardener relationship. I recognize my own situation with our hard-working soft-spoken Central American landscape artist.
Fortunately, I share this gentleman with several others in our neighborhood, so I am not responsible for the entirety of his “living wage.”

CanadianEh! ~ It’s a busy time, indeed, so we will all understand if our daily schedules can’t make room for Jumbling.
We will just do our best.
Glad your W succeeded in wending its way to an actor’s favorite version of Earth, after pausing en route to aid a Bloke!

OMK, yes, you're right, the fellow in your haiku must be pretty dim-witted if he doesn't understand why ants would like a honey-covered prune.
And thank you for your very kind comment about my DMV crisis. I've just tried to blank it out of my mind, and I'll deal with not being able to drive anymore as best I can. Given how rarely I have any need to drive, it should be pretty much okay.
CanadianEh!, we miss your verse and will miss it again if you're busy tomorrow too. But thank you for checking in with us anyway, which is much appreciated.
