He wanted to help his incarcerated pal by smuggling a shiv in a pie to him, but, alas! that trick had apparently been tried before.

Had trouble with the fourth word and hoped Owen's poem would help. Have to leave to teach my class at the Senior Center this morning, so cheated and looked up the fourth word. Tada! that helped me get the solution, and your punning on it confirmed it, OMK. Gotta go, but good to have the Jumble done.

I'm only posting this to illustrate how clever Owen's lick's are

The hyenas were circling , searching for a way,
Weaving their way through the brush towards their prey
The gerbil could dodge , he could blend
But indubitably soon would come the bitter end
But unlooked for, beyond hope a vine did appear
"Give it a try, mate" said none other than

Smokey the Bear

W.C. ~ Good one!

Owen’s the brightest & most prolific
His words tumble forth; they’re simply terrific.
To measure against him is not our mission,
He’s our model, not competition.

So don’t hesitate to post your verse;
It’s just a cooler way to converse.
Poetry lends panache to this place;
It grants us poise, a special grace.

Please don’t doubt you’ve got the skill;
Trust simple words to fill the bill.

I agree with what Keith wrote:
Wilbur, your a clever poet.

(But not me, as you can tell from my rhyming skills_

Sorry I don't know how to re-post the jumble here. I found mine in the LA Times and did it there.

Here's my solution hint--in case it gets posted or you find your own. Good luck, all!
The carpenter worried his apprentice hadn't fastened the corner joint firmly enough.
"See how that wobbles?" he said. "That's soft. Do glue it again, and be sure it hardens before putting weight on it."
