*** ALERT ***

The glitch has returned! Today's Jumble has a "the" in the answer, and the Shockwave/Uclick interface will not give a ta-da at the correct answer
12345 (the) 67890
but instead wants
12345 (the) the67.

Are you afraid you have a cold?
Do you have a runny, stuffy node?
Some nice hot chicken broth will do
To help you see this ailment thru!

If you wish to hedge your bets,
Make lemon and honey, stomach's guests,
Washed down with a jigger of whiskey
That should help to set you frisky!

Rest is needed for your healing,
Never mind the oddity if it's not evening.
You'll feel sleepy, so go to bed!
Spend the night "out," to clear your head!

I hope Owen is ok, doing well, feeling like himself.

Anyhow, this jumble had easy clues, and with all the letters available, the solution popped up, even though I thought it was a stretch to call it a pun. The "funny" meaning of the phrase is awkwardly put and a real reach, IMO! Yesterday's was much funnier.

BTW, Owen, the Tribune site provides "the" in the caption, but does leave it out of the bubbles.

Oh yay! The poem arrived while I was writing. Way to describe traditional cold remedies poetically!

Apropos of general health, I have allergies, but no cold. Definitely know that stuffy feeling.

Apologies for missing a poem yesterday. The Black Dog has been sniffing around, and I've been out of my happy pills for a few days, on top of all the drama in my life recently. No particular drama the past couple of days tho, and it's been replaced by boredom and ennui. I really shouldn't let depression keep me from writing, since it's better therapy than the happy pills (bupropion, if you're curious). I spent some time last evening working on a bit of artwork, that helped a bit. Here it is on Facebook.

Yesterday could have made a good Sam Sloan story, too, with a CACLING witch (as Wilbur noted), and a WOODEN stake for a vampire.

Thanks for the link to your F'Book page, Owen. This is the 1st time I've seen your art, and I am quite impressed. I left a short note appreciating the combination of freedom & discipline. You maintain a lively tension, not an easy thing to do. Your work is so bright, I can see how it works as an antidote to depression. Thank you again!

Today's poem is fun. I hope you're not getting a cold.

Connie was in charge of the dioramas at the natural history museum. The fake tree background in the caveman exhibit drooped in humid weather, so she would monitor and tend the sight as needed.

I didn't have any trouble with the four J's and guessed the second word of the riddle-solution. So the remaining letters tied in neatly.

This is indeed runny node season. I've not been water walking unless temp is in mid 70s(as it is 90% of the time in FLA

Nice to have you and your always delightful poems back, Owen. Sorry it's been a bit of down-time for you, but glad everything is generally okay. I enjoyed this Jumble, whose words filled in easily for me, as did the cute solution. Love the way the little kid tried to put a good spin on the expensive room. And enjoyed your play on the solution, Ol'Man Keith.
