Rockwell was the porter, the only staff at the Lodge's club.
Who knew he had such talent, each challenger to drub!
His duties stood neglected, he felt for that a pain.
But now coerced to playing, he could not relent a game!

At chess he was a wonder, but it caused him deep dismay.
His was not a special skill to include on his résumé.
He'd played since he was a youngster, tutored by his Dad.
But now the Lodge elected him a member! Oh, Egad!

A special patent was drawn up, the Master duly inked.

Sent to every rival Lodge thru-out the whole precinct
Was an invite to a tourney, if they dared to send a team.
Rockwell had a suite of moves, he'd win all like a dream!

(I really intended yesterday's poem to be complete, but today's words just drew this out of me! I think it's complete now, but we'll see what inspiration tomorrow brings!)
A patent in this sense is a certificate of a special honor being bestowed, such as membership to an exclusive Lodge.

I had another good jumble day today. I enter what I think is the word, and somehow that helps me to see the real word. On the sol., I entered the second word, and then the first was obvious. No hints needed today.

I love the stories, and I really hope that the future brings you lots of "continued" inspiration.
Many thanks.

Well, with Owen's help I got all 4 items, but I'm still struggling with the solution. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm late to the game today, but early to the solution. I actually woke up at 6 a.m., solved this fairly easy one in bed, then went back to sleep.
Appropriate, yes? - Considering today's final sweet solution?
Does that help at all, Misty?

Owen, you can "drag" this out as long as you wish. We, your fans, will take as many episodes as you can give us!
I think your last line today should be of sweet help to our Misty, as it contains everything anyone needs to know.

Yes, thank you Ol'Man Keith and Owen--I finally got it! Now I can take a nap without nightmares.

I like that last line, Misty, very clever .

I had trouble with#3 but when I went back to it and did D4's letter trick(actually he doesn't have the patent) it fell.

Then with the letters lined up the second word was obvious.

I'm looking forward to the chess tournament But who's going to mind the door?
