Fish had no luck with any woman that he courted.
One and all they spurned him, to begging he'd resorted!
He was giving up on hope, and considering the clergy.
If celibacy was his fate, at least he'd make it worthy!

But masculine imperatives were wired in his psyche.
The urge to find a soulmate was so strong and mighty!
All previous relationships in short order had been cleft
Not by his volition, they had left his world bereft!

Then came the day that Fish met Sally, like him, cast aside.
Oft rejected, but together, their hearts both clicked inside!
Lying together, he'd let his finger circle her innie navel,
She'd stroke his balding head that to her breast she'd cradle.

The cartoon depicts the final answer - what a giveaway! There's the little pea-green jerk with his thumb up & snarling his greeting...

A lovely tale of predestined love. I can't resist a romance!
(Might I suggest the gerund in the 1st line 2nd verse? As "in the w---ing of his"?)

I kind of liked seeing the literal depiction of a figurative phrase. Really easy jumble, more even than Monday.
Owen, I loved your third entry on the crossword corner. Much higher than a C+.

Had to work a little to get 3 and 4, but once I did, the solution was easy and a delight. Big relief, because the drawing had me worried since I'm not always in great shape when it comes to Jumbles.

Glad things shaped up for you, Misty. Truth is, the cartoon was a bit off-putting, not immediately suggesting an answer. But, happily, the letters pretty much spelled out today's solution.

Sandy, I agree with you on Owen's#3 at CC.
It's often the case, at least for me, that my favorite is his meh grade .

I think his grading uses a different standard. You and I simply say "I liked that one (best)".

I haven't succeeded at getting back into my routine; there's too much going on since I returned. But today I solved the J quite easily and clinched the final answer. Cute! I thought the circle figure helped. Still great, Owen!

Since I'm a day late, I can actually say that Once I confirmed that the "C" was the correct first letter of word 3, it came to me. I guessed "circle" for the sol., and "inner" was easy.
