The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Got the four. I thought I had the riddle-solution but was missing an M. Found it. A bland riddle today.
In a cavity in the mountain lay the dragon's hoard
Bilbo lay in a clump of woods, near the river's ford
His quest to steal the arkenstone was mainly his idea
But the dwarves that had accompanied him were nowhere near
To be continued (by Owen?)
Well, this morning's Jumble was a total treat for me. I got all four words without any work or trouble. Then looked at that long solution and feared I would have problems. But after reading the cartoon, it popped up instantly, and all the letters worked. Woohoo! I needed a good start to the day because I have to go out for a biopsy on my lower lip this afternoon--the doctor fears a cancer there. Scares me, since I'm still lecturing at the Senior center this spring, and having speech problems would be a real trial. So I needed a cheerful start, and I got it with a fun crossword, this easy Jumble, and Sudoku and Kenken also fell into place.
Can't believe how you got all four words and the solution into your poem, Wilbur--a treat. Hope Owen gives us one too.
Misty, the dermatologists can freeze off those things. You should record your lectures and have a geek post them.
Thx for the nice compliment. If you have time with grandchildren you could always read "The Hobbit". Spiders, goblins, trolls and treasure- right up kid's alley

Sorry, everybody!
I posted this last night--on the previous page--before this page showed up. Here is a re-posting, but probably too late for anyone to see...
The solution:
The Champ was a happy guy, always of good cheer. When he retired from the ring, he opened his own training facility, a model of healthy living, with the latest equipment and tall windows to let in fresh air and light, a fun, sunny gym for all to enjoy.

Thanks, Wilbur. The dermatologist did freeze the thing on the lip and did a biopsy only on one spot on my forehead. So not as worrisome as I thought it might be, and I should have no problem doing a lecture next week. Liked your gloss, Ol'Man Keith.
Glad to read it wasn't so bad at the dermatologist's, Misty.
I've had to make my peace with my docs. I have a standing dermatology appt. now, every 6 mos. Sooner- if I find anything new myself.
At every session, I have growths frozen or excised. I'm paying now for all those wonderful years of sunshine. I used to live ON the beach, swam every day, and loved every bit of it.
LOL. What is it Piaf sang? "Non, je ne regrette rien..."

Ah, Edith Piaf. 4th year French in HS. Mme J, used to play her. Only five in the class so fairly informal.
Let's see if the J's invite Smaug to the party tomorrow.
