The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

My goodness, I've never been the first person to post on this blog. I just hope Sandy and Ol'Man Keith are okay this morning. And you too, Wilbur and Owen.
Well, here's my always slightly awkward Jumble poem:
"Kind Helen"
One day Helen found a hound
on a mound near her house, on the ground.
and refused to take him to the pound.
She did not want him in a cell,
which is what made her impel
to get him a collar and a bell.
He began as a bit of a misfit
until she fed him a biscuit--
a tradition they never did quit.
She kept treats for him in her pocket,
and put his name on her locket--
he had made her joy simply rocket.
A year later it had become time
her love for him to chime
And so Helen write him a rhyme.
Her devotion was so kind and true,
I decided out of the blue
to pay Helen a tribute too.
"Her 2 Cents"
Curses! that misfit hound of Hades impels me here to wake
every time the pack lets loose with howls, and Her Dishiness--
the loudest of the lot--lets loose to whine & wail & take
the prize for the noiseiest in decibel richiness.
If only she'd pocket her prize and quit her bitchiness!

Her "Dishiness"? Is she an actual hound or just a "bitch," as you suggest? And, hmm? what's her prize? Surely not just a bone?
The poetic muses seem at times to function like Rorschach tests, revealing our different natures! Given the same clue words, Misty and I come up with entirely different narratives.
She reveals a tender, generous spirit, honoring Kind Helen for her humane approach to a needy animal, while my complainer hears nothing good in the desperate yowls of a lonely hound trying to communicate with her pack.
I believe her darling poem (!) is telling the truth about Misty.
And, as for me...
Ah, well. It is, as they say what it is.
(Maybe I'm letting the Xmas rush get to me.)

I did wonder if a "hound" could be a female, a "bitch."
So, of course, I went to trusty Google (Man's newest "best friend"), and it assured me that a hound is a hunting dog, and can be either male or female.
(Not that only females can be "dishy...")

I thought I posted FLN. Working on my Ivanhoe. Great poetry from OMK and Misty.

Thanks, Wilbur! I'm looking forward to your installment.
Oh, and Misty, the "prize" is figurative.
When she doesn't actually get a bone, she'll need to figure it out.

Thank you, Wilbur and Keith, for your very kind comments, and your always terrific poetry. You make our mornings a treat.
