"Surprise Success"
It was to serve as self-expression for fine artists,
a sort of Etsy for the visual (more than crafty),
a site for venting one's soul, for catharsis,
in any style, from tres serieux to the daffy.

Paintings were sought, photos, and sketches.
Yes, sales were allowed, but nothing too costly.
Video art was encouraged, any appeal to the senses;
and that was where things got a little frothy.

Alas, all it took was a few spicy scenes,
for the site to become popular, effectively re-born
as a few thousand lowbrows, utter philistines,
submitted home movies without fear of scorn
under the cover of Art, not as--naked? barefaced?!--porn.

Just couldn't decide on the best legitimate (clean? PG-rated?) adjective for that last line.
Any suggestions?

"Speech Therapy"

Poor Bess had a terrible stutter--
each word was a trial to utter.
Speech therapy was pricey,
not much fun, not spicy.
But though the sessions were costly
they began to work softly.
New words she began to etch,
even stories she started to sketch.
Her teachers she began to bless:
they were the key to her success.

I'm glad your Bess found the right teachers, Misty. Not all have such success. As I understand, there are many possible causes for stuttering, and so no single appropriate therapy.
I don't know much about it, but I respect the field. Some of my former students have gone into it, as a logical extension of speech classes in actor training.
Your neat poem flows easily. Excellent, full marks!
You found a good theme to link the clue words quite naturally--right through to the solution.

Ol' Man Keith, your poem was a total delight this morning, with your sophisticated prose ending in your slightly naughty surprise. Many thanks, and thank you for your always kind words for mine. I'm always amazed how the same set of Jumble words can take us in opposite directions. But that's what makes it fun.

A fine Owen poem on the Corner this morning.

Yes, I'm very happy to see that Owen is back on the Corner. He grades himself too strictly, though.
