The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Too bad that won't work permanently. It'll Just be there waiting for her!

As we all know from experience.

Today’s solution is a variation (including a rhyme) on the title of the poem…

The ‘He’ Scrape
My childhood crowd were silly geese;
we thought our wisecracks snappy.
We dressed like soldiers, all in khaki,
to suggest (I dunno) trigger-happy?

A new kid moved into our town.
I hoped to cement our friendship.
He said, “I’m not wearing all that brown,”
and tried like hell to give me the slip
(till I changed his mind with a busted lip).

"Whacky Relatives"

Louise bought her niece some geese
that they teased by feeding them cheese.
This aunt always dressed in khakhi
and with her niece was never snappy.

Their friendship they did cement
by going camping in a tent,
and enjoying a happy escape
by visiting the Cape.
Their laughter was the key
to lives cheery and carefree.

Cementing friendship in a tent
is a very good way to dock a ‘ship.
I did it once with a pal o’ mine
on a weekend camping trip.

Till then the only cement we knew
was that stuff they build big cities on.
Hardly conducive to sink roots in,
barely supporting any kind of fun.

I’m glad, Misty, for Louise & her niece!
My only query: what became of those geese?

Friends coming to dinner,
a busy day,
later I'll have
more to say.

Hiatus rang a bell. A repeat

{Lois says}
"I suggest a brief hiatus from this shrouded life you lead
Come to a meeting tomorrow perhaps we'll plant a seed
Of hope. All we ask is that you funnel your thoughts to the future .
Our way is a daily reprieve; its not a permanent cure"

At the meeting next night Chet expected to face a grilling
Actually he saw smiling faces and laughter like that of children
Again his hopes were raised. "All we ask is that you be willing "
Chet inhaled a new intoxication - that of new found freedom.

So, Wilbur, this is harking back to the past? Chet is doing just great right now, yes? Don't scare me like that!

No hurry, Misty-Gal;
enjoy your feast!
Maybe a dinnertime pal
knows about the geese.

Wilbur & Sandy ~
LOL, I guess my eyesight is going.
At first I mis-read Sandy's note, as if she wrote that Wilbur's piece was "barking back," not "harking back."
That would be just a coupla letters off from "barking mad," right?!
Heheheh.

OMK,

I hope your story just had a blip
and that you didn't really bust that new kid's lip.
And I hope you had a good camping trip
and were able to come home on a ship.
I hope that you maybe had some peace
by finding out what happened to those poor geese.
Let's just hope these are all enough stories to tell,
and that everything--even for geese--ended well.

Wilbur, I too am so happy that Chet was greeted so kindly by Lois and her group and got a kind and enthusiastic welcome. How wonderful if this gives him a new and great recovery!
