The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

“(A)Prep(-pared) Oration (on Alcohol Choice)”

Would I rather have an ounce of Ripple,
or tomato juice in a Bloody Mary?
Is there a question of my favorite tipple?
—just a razor thin’s difference, not too glary.
But if I were to imbibe them both,
I’d be truly pickled, by my troth.

At a boarding school named Eton Prep
They were very proud of their rep!
It expanded, like a ripple effect,
To draw students you wouldn't expect!

A student, with no use yet for a razor,
Used it to peel fruit for to savor.
Some tomatoes, when shaved just right,
Make satisfying smacks in a food fight!

A pale, skinny nerd from Saint Francis
Ounce for ounce was smartest on campus.
Picked as valedictorian for graduation,
He made preparation for his Prep oration!

"Caring Courtship"

Rick shaved carefully with his razor
before putting on his blazer:
he really wanted to amaze her.

He then proceeded with his next step
to work on the lunch that he would prep:
a soup made from fresh tomatoes
and a hamburger with fried potatoes.
And to add a bit of a ripple
he'd bought a wine that they could tipple.

After lunch he gave an oration
offering to take her on a vacation
where they could marry, and become a relation.
She was so dazzled, she said "Yes!"
and decades later, that day they still bless.

What bright creations from my colleagues—Owen & Misty!
The former regales us with razor-pared veggies while the latter flatters our imaginations with fantastic rhymes, approaching O. Nash in originality!
On the Eve of the Big Day, I know why I’m thankful.

My goodness, Old Man Keith, I was just dazzled with your verse, especially the last two lines, which just cracked me up. So, after that gift, I'm especially flattered and thankful for your extremely kind words--Thank you!

Owen, so those youngsters peeled tomatoes to use in their food fights? Wild kids they are.

After vet gave the pup a castration
He was directly placed on probation.
He had just had one more ounce of Ripple
Before tomato-slicing dog’s nipple;
Gave a new meaning to Ken’l-oration
