The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Just a note that I won't be posting a poem for Sunday. I took last Sunday off and found it was a satisfactory way to refresh, especially because it's a "double header" refresher.
I'll look in as an audience member--and may or may not choose to add something later on.
This note is to reassure folk that I am OK.

Took me over an hour to find a picture for the J4. I wanted a cop accosting a guy selling watches out of his trench-coat, by finally settled for a flasher with no cop in sight. You'd better start telling me if my choices on Sunday illos are helpful or not.

Poor Angus McKnee was in agony,
His foot was swollen a size or three!
His brogan boots no longer fit,
His good brogue shoes? To heck with it!

But his nephew Scott had good news,
A device that really stretched out shoes!
True, the price was a pretty pence,
But he could get one and bring it hence.

Angus was desperate, so gave Scott the cost,
And the nephew then was off like a shot!
He got the shoe trees really cheap
To cover up the change he spent on sweets!

The mischief was done, a rebuke expected.
But Uncle was pleased with what he inspected.
The money spent on the Swedish fish
He forgave with a flick of his wrist!

Scott exhaled a breath of relief.
Now to see to his Uncle's feet!
An insect bite, or a nasty thistle,
Some rarity had bestowed a toe like a pickle!

A stretched out shoe, with tongue untucked,
Could fit over the foot that was fukct!
So Angus could return to his bakery
Under the ensign reading, "Sweets By McKnee"!

Fln, Sandy was my wave length. When I moved to the burbs I was "unattached".
SO when Jack wanted to pal along I had no prejudice one way or the other.

By he was the one with the cottage on Cape Cod. My brother was well liked by his mother and aunt. His father had died in the war.

"Recovery"

Johnny had been in jail,
but was finally released on bail.
He was back now, on the trail,
finally able to exhale.

He feared he would get much rebuke
but thanks to a surprising fluke
he was given much help by a charity
that considered him a rarity.

Because his crimes had been low
they were willing much help to bestow
to help his reputation to untuck
with support that would give him good luck.

There were jobs on a boat as an ensign
but staying on land was his design.
His team found him a job in a bakery
where he developed a skill known as "cakery."

So Johnny now bakes great cakes and pies,
and develops new treats that surprise.
His love now is sweetish food,
and his team says, "Yes, Johnny is good."

Owen, so glad Scott's Uncle was kind to him, after he spent his money on a Swedish fish. But, I must ask, what is a Swedish fish?

My goodness, I just looked it up, and it turns out to be some kind of candy! Never heard of it--you learn something new on the blog every day. Many thanks!

Some very fine offerings all around, from Owen (x2) & Misty (in combo!).
Now that I'm rested, here's a minor mid-day diversion (just J4, sans title):

From shillings to pence--or "P"--
and from local brogues to today's "R.P.,"
Old Blighty is changing before our eyes.
(Just add up the mobiles on your device.)
Some think it is agony, this modernization,
but it may be salvation
for a stodgy nation.

Nice of you to check in, OMK, and offer us a verse. Sadly, I only get J6 to do, so can't comment or respond to it. But--

Your verses are always a treat--
you make them complex, but neat.
Thank you for all your support:
it makes you one of a sort.

First. I loved your choice of the flasher Owen. Perfect for 'Covering up'. Keep Em Coming.

And of course two great poems. Was that toe "Bombilated"?*

Misty: "Cakery" in the bakery. Who you trying to fakery? For heavens sakery please tell us there was no jakery . I hope there was no nakery, not in a well respected bakery. Think of what's at stakery. It makes me get all shakery.

OMK, glad you're rested you're certainly well respected. All that rhyming certainly has tested but thankfully you're vested and your skills have not crested.. As all have often attested. But don't get big chested. Even for my bad poetry I was never arrested

No, I haven't spent an hour in rhyme zone. Perhaps a little caffeine in my Arnold Palmers this afternoon.

As I noted, my battery's seized and I was trying find a cheap working phone to trade in to t-mobile for this new one that I'm trying to post with.

So the real Wilbur is back.

Just remembered, I've got to solve Monday's xword.
