Today’s Jumble haiku:
(When a supposedly abstinent alcoholic was found to be carrying a half pint of rye on a nature hike, his friends were entitled to reach an unhappy conclusion…)

Take a Sip at…

Hadn’t he taken
a flask along? That attaches
or invests ill thoughts.

(And here’s an extra:)

Before I could shake
one, all the sticks were taken.
Stickless shakes be fine …

"Couple Security"

The couple did happily bask
as they drank their beer from a flask.
After enjoying a breakfast of bacon
they had other pleasures taken.
They were such a happy match
and did close to each other attach.

Now the time had come to invest
and they wanted to do their best
and safe investments make
that would not their security shake.

So to solid projects they did stick
though raising cash would not be quick.
But their income was safe and sure
and this made them feel happy and secure.

Your happy couple, Misty, made me happy too.
They caused me to think, “If only…!”
This time their story arc was pretty flat: they started happy, continued happy, and ended up happy.
Still, this reader stayed with them.
All the way.

Thank you for your kind response to my happy couple, Ol' Man Keith. A little drama would have made their life more interesting, but I just couldn't let that happen to them.

Sorry that your abstinent guy fell back on his commitment. I hope your shakes ended up as a good alternative to the bad stuff. But I couldn't figure out your solution to his "stickless shakes."
I tried to look them up and found "protein shakes, nutrition shakes, snickers shakes, skim cow low fat shakes," and even "images of stickless shakes" which looked very healthy and tasty. But what sort of a "fine" product could they be? But I have to admit that it's fun to have your
"fine" ... leave me guessing.

Back a sure bet in comedic performance -
Stake a Shtick at

Invest in our comedy routine;
No strings attached to this scene.
The starring actor is hilarious,
If he doesn’t become gregarious.
Just be sure his flask is taken!

Misty ~ You’re overthinking it. A “stickless shake” is merely what happens when you want to “shake a stick at” something, but to do it without a weapon.

CanadianEh! ~ Your advice is sound for many a comedic performer who’s inclined to be garrulous when juiced.

As for today’s W-word, I noticed one of the hints on line is “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely…”
Of course, the answer to that is “players,” not exactly the correct W.

Delightful verse about a comedic performance, CanadianEh!. I'd actually love to see it!

OMK- your haiku made me think of WC and the 12 Step program. Hopefully your hiker contacts his sponsor and gets back on track.
I did smile at the “sticklers shakes”.
I rather liked my Yiddish Shtick!

Misty- your couple sound like such a happy pair. Imagine beer and bacon for breakfast, and then “other pleasures”! I’m glad they decided to stick with safe, secure investments. Your usual rhyming couplets are similar, making us happy and secure.
