|| || vigil, swamp, encamp, astray, (the) prince (of) wails.

I forgot to include the 6x6 puzzle! I'll add it to Tuesday's post!

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Francis Marion was a wily fox, in the seventeen eighties.
In the trackless swamps, he evaded the British with ease.
The last American unit left in the state of South Caroline,
His men harassed and harried the British behind the line.

From their encampments, they kept vigil in treacherous marshes,
They made surprise attacks on British and Loyalist marches.
The unwary soldier who wandered astray of his troop
Might become a casualty, his wails dismaying his group!

The Swamp Fox showed his loyalty to his American home.
Helped eject invaders, sending them back across the foam!
Ensured no kings or princes would rule the land of liberty!
Helped to mold the nation he bequeathed to you and me!

I've been feeling under the weather lately, haven't posted at CC for two days. I shoot for a midnight deadline, but if I haven't posted anything by 3 AM, assume I'm too ill to type by filling in for me. Post your crossword clues for the Jumble solutions, even if just one, or the whole batch.

Very sorry to hear you haven't been well. I hope it's temporary and nothing really bad. Did notice that you were missing from the Corner, but I thought that since you posted here, it wasn't serious. I wish you the very best, Owen; you are a bright spot in my life for sure.

The jumble clues presented themselves rather easily. The solution was fun and fairly simple, though I did get misled on the second word for awhile by thinking of the original phrase.

The topic of the poem was inventive -- as usual, I want to say, except that there's nothing usual about Owen's inventiveness, is there?

We love reading you every day, but are willing to sacrifice some of our pleasure whenever you need time for yourself.

The title of the final answer has been used many times for musicians, from crooners to bluesmen and more.
I feel a bit possessive, as the homonym refers to the land that constitutes a quarter of my ancestry.

How sad that you've been feeling so ill, Owen. You're in my daily prayer, and I'll keeping hoping that you'll feel better soon. Take good care of yourself.

Just to explain: I began praying on a day when my late husband was in the hospital after his stroke and was totally unresponsive one morning when I arrived. I called for help and they took him to check what was going on and I was terrified that he'd had another stroke. His nephew--an American Buddhist was with me--and he began quietly chanting a Buddhist prayer. I had no choice but to start silently praying too. When they brought Rowland back they reported that he was fine--he had just been given a slight overdose of sedative the night before because he had been very restless. It was hard not to feel that my prayer had been answered, and I've been saying a daily prayer ever since.

No need to explain, Misty. No one can think otherwise. I am glad you have such solace.

Owen, I hope you are feeling better today .I'm obviously very late. My Sunday J is the 6*6 . I actually find those harder than the xword for that day.

However, since I had a long wait at the Port I struggled and got the six .3 and 4 fooled me . I had COSMIC < MOSAIC and DERIVED < DRIVER .

I now had 16 letters and a plethora of vowels . Thought of SIDED and I was close. My son Phil came up with SET and this morning I pieced HAD HIS SITES SET ON IT

Misty, I had some posts in CC that relate .Jung was reacting to the sceptics re. "Spritual experiences" referring to them as "sane" eg Rational/Scientific.

Empirical evidence such as yours (and mine too) convinced him, us and hopefully the rationalists.

ERGO* Let's keep praying .

* We had this recently . I think on Saturday.
