The cultural anthropologist who staked his reputation on the theory that even Stone Age tribes practiced rudimentary forms of religion was greatly disappointed when he came across groups of peoples on isolated Polynesian islands where seldom belief could be found.

This jumble's solution fairly leapt from the page. I had to tell myself to be patient & retreat to the clue words first.

Solution took me a while, but it was a relief when I finally got it. The words for copying and combining suggested ideas to me, but Erato hasn't been by this morning. Maybe later, I hope.

Contrarywise for me, the clues were obvious, but I had to write out the letters before the solution became equally so. I do like this pun -- seems naturally funny.

Hope there'll be a poem today, but I fear Owen may not be feeling up to it. Recovering can be very up and down. Holding good thoughts for you, Owen.

Thought I got all four words easily this morning, but had EMERGE for the fourth word and then realized that had to be wrong if I had the right second word of the solution. But it all worked out and I thought this was a sweet sports cartoon.

Hope you're feeling okay, Owen, and hope you have a good weekend. You too, everybody.

I often put in a word for we witch the letters just don't compute. This fell easy for me today with the baseball game a welcome relief.

Misty, the relief pitcher is often referred to as a "Fireman". *

I seldom believe one hint is enough, so this old memory may turn the page…
When my brother and sister set up a 5-cent lemonade stand on our front steps, the kids next door took to it like flies to dogpoop. I wanted to buy some myself, but we had argued over something, and out of spite they made a show of offering the last drinks to the other kids. Our mom caught them and commanded, “Be sure to sell some to Keith!”
