The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

"Be-Movie Me?"
"I'll choose the movie tonight
and vouch it's one we all like.
If you really don't take delight,
you can tell me to take a hike."

Meanwhile, our Dobermann, "Deacon,"
sat on the remote, and its beacon
selected Last of the Mohicans.

"Negotiation"

Mort just loved to watch a movie,
something he found cool and groovy.
But his wife preferred the news,
so each night they had to choose.
They spent an hour on the couch
trying for their choice to vouch.
In the end they found a beacon
to resolve this, but not weaken,
in a way that would behoove
a move that each of them would soothe.
The answer was simple as could be:
they went and bought a second TV.

Your clever verse just cracked me up, Ol' Man Keith. And I loved the way you brought in a pet with a name to solve the TV problem: a lot cheaper than Mort's choice.

I dunno, Misty...
Yes, it's clever, but does it solve all the problems for Mort & Missus Mort?
These days, most middle class homes already have multiple sets, and the trick for couples is to try to find shows they can watch together.
TV-viewing is often the only time they spend with each other, isn't it?
By adding a set, they also lose the daily "hour on the couch" they spent arguing!

Thanks for your response to my ditty. I am glad you appreciated my pet Dobe, as I recall YOU inspired the use of pets in rhyming!

As a beacon in the night, Chet had a bright idea
Choose a posse, a village or even a pair
Of wizened old-timers, the ancients who have been around
The block. They'd seen it all, their advice surely sound.

It behooved him to choose a sane path in the dark
He could vouch that these men could guide him and let him see.
Suddenly, while lost in thought he heard an odd remark
Lois had approached and said, "Hi Chet, care to join us for a movie?"

OMG, Wilbur, there's nothing like leaving us in suspense! Is Lois interested, or just being friendly to a fellow striver? We'll find out soon, I hope.

Here's a 2nd OMG from OMK, Wilbur!
What a surprise, an authorial coup!
Here we've all been stewing over what move Chet might make, how he could take matters in hand and approach the maybe unapproachable Ms. Lois, when suddenly -
- Bam! -
you have HER take the bull by the horns,
and in the most casual way.
Brilliant.

Wilbur, I agree totally with OMK, you gave us a perfect follow-up to the Chet and Lois progression! Thank you!
