The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

This brief ditty is dedicated to the memory of a long-gone doggie, who was so well house broken he rarely had to tell me he needed a "walk" outside, thus relieving me of the need to be saying "Nay" to him several times a day.

"Pet Excursions"
I don't like to gloat,
but my little dog "Sniff"
needed fewest "walks" per hour,
and that's not a myth*.

Each "walk" = one "pythth."

[Chet is telling Lois about his past]

My future looked bright at 21 when I received my college degree
But even then there were signs that the perspicacious could see
I passed my courses putting in the fewest hours to just get by
My college career was nothing to gloat about, it's easy to see why.

Now drugs were not my thing though I smoked and took a sniff or two
I wasn't a nay sayer when offered but my choice was hearty brew
I eschewed post grad settling for lesser hourly rate
I became a loner, fear prevailed and I bemoaned my sorry fate

Wilbur ~ Fascinating how using alexandrines to record events for an average guy makes him seem larger than life!
Chet reminds me of people I knew a long time ago.
What was his major?

"The Winner"

Victor couldn't help but gloat
at the way he won the vote.
A say-er of a silent prayer,
he was elected as the mayor.
His opponents were the fewest,
and his followers were the truest.
Few citizens had voted "Nay"
on this, their election day.
As the hourly polls came in
they indicated a mighty win.
So the contest was not stiff
and produced not a single sniff,
and delighted by his fate,
Victor victory did celebrate.

Ah, Misty ~
how lucky for Victor that he chose to run for mayor in a fictional town--and that apparently he scored a resounding majority, with no run-off required.
Voice a victory vamp for Victor's victory! Voila!

He surely would have fared far worse in NYC's ranked primary, in which no winner has been named after days of confusion & counting errors.
Oh, let's shed a tear for the mighty Big Apple,
where the board of electors are all a-brabble!

Chet deserves a couplet too:

Beguiling alexandrines make an average joe heroic,
not negligible like the amoeba, well beyond mere protozoic!

How nice that you've got another sweet little dog, OMK: this one named "Sniff."
I suppose he probably does sniff around your yard quite a bit.

And yes, I hope Victor stays put and doesn't move to New York.

I'm sure Lois will sympathize with Chet, Wilbur--after all, she's had her own problems to manage. At any rate, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

And, in addition, I admired the way you all got all Jumble words and solution into your rhyme. Congratulations!
