The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

"Clothes"
I dressed in my sportiest outfit
and felt so cool & poised,
I was in form to conquer the world
and make the joyfullest noise.

(So I played with my little dog, "Pest,"
and then I took my afternoon rest.)

Chet wanted to know everything about Lois, he was obsessed
Where she worked, where she lived and even how she dressed
He loved her poise and the way she sported jewels.
He was in love and Eros has never been a stranger to fools

He became a pest to her friends craving information
If Lois learned she had a stalker would it be to his damnation?

I had to lookup #1 even having the last two letters. I wrote down combinations including P I O S E and P O I E S

And this after FIR on that difficult Saturday xword

But how does Lois feel? We really don't know much about her yet.

Chet's obsession with the surface of Lois can't be healthy, can it?
Sandy is on the right track. We don't know her, and that means Chet doesn't either.
I wished her well a few days ago, on the theory that what was good for her would probably be good for our boy.
Help us all out, Wilbur.

"Romance Lesson"

Pam had dated many boys
but was charmed by Peter's poise.
So she donned her fanciest dress
to wow him, and impress.
But Pete did quickly inform her
that he was unlikely to storm her.
To test romance it was best
to jest, and nest, and rest,
to be sporty and never a pest,
also never to pretend,
but work hard to become a friend.
For Pam this was all a new norm
and she quickly did Pete inform
that of all the beaus she had met
this made him the best one yet.
His program their romance did tarry,
but, in the end, made them happy to marry.

A timely posting from Misty!
Peter could proffer good advice to Chet on how slowly, carefully, and respectfully he might approach Lois.
Or maybe Chet's sponsor should be the one to talk with Peter, as it might offer him a better way to advise Chet than the absolutism of the strict "Hands off" policy.
Time for a little intramural therapy?

Ol' Man Keith, love the way you worked the Jumble words into your brief poem. Being "in form" to conquer the world, was my favorite. And, yea, you did it--you worked a little dog into your verse! Good thing he doesn't understand English or he'd give you a bite for naming him "Pest."

Wilbur, what a delight to see you work in a "pest to her friends"--but sure hope Lois doesn't find out. I keep hoping for the best for her romance, and, yes, Chet could sure use some advice from Pete.

Misty ~ You have it backwards.
The little dog started things with a fictional bite, and that is how he got his name.
I still have the mark on my fictional left ankle.

I think perhaps Chet needs another year before he'll be ready for a relationship. Then again, Lois must have a backstory too, eh?

I had a line that upon rereading made me think of this kind of
Fool

BTW, Misty that was a very readable poem today. It flowed nicely
