Today’s Jumble haiku:
(I always wondered if Ali Baba had a phantom genie, like in the movies, would he be stuck with phantom wishes…?)
“Tippy(-toe)d for It”
His plight was to be
prone to phantom digit toes.
Oh, it was baffling.

Rabbit rabbit.
Little Nell was a normal lass,
Grades were normal in each class.
Did the normal things at play.
But hoped to be great some day!
Little Nell was a petit girl.
Gymnastics put her in a whirl!
Agile with her limbs and digits,
She baffled with deeds prodigious.
Little Nell was prone to plights,
Entered contests left and right!
Brought home trophies with her skill,
Ruled arenas, queen of the hill!
At one meet, a tie would draw it,
So Little Nell, she flipped for it!

The calendar said ‘64
when we arrived at Georgia’s door,
with many miles before the sea.
But Ol’ Sherman promised, “Victory!”
He reared up in his saddle,
all spit-shine & starch,
then galloped into battle,
commanding us to ______!

We have left the Hare behind.
To the tea party he's confined.
There he'll stride
In private's pride
Twixt a lion and infant ovine!
It went out like a lion here

Still lots going on here, but I am using W as a diversion while waiting. Not sure if I will be up to anything more mentally strenuous today.
April (or March) Fools?
They were baffled by the joke,
Bewilderment was their plight.
Though prone to give up they soon awoke,
And suddenly they saw the light.
Running a digit down the clue
Gave the reveal and then they knew,
They had flipped for it!
I’m back with apologies for my lack of rhythm in my offering (but it does rhyme!).
OMK- again, you master the art of getting all the words into a haiku. That title reminded me of “Tiptoe through the tulips”. Can phantom digits doe that?
Owen- great poem about Little Nell. The rhyming of digits and prodigious was brilliant.
That choice of W today was odd wasn’t it?
Owen’s Nell seems quite a sport—in both senses: as an accomplished trophy-laden athlete and, in the end, even a little gambler.
And he took care of the Hare in timely fashion. The Man is in control.
Good to see you, CanadianEh!
Your vigil continues, we understand. But time can grow unbearably heavy without mild diversion, a truth of experience.
Your poem honors the Fool tradition. Flipping the calendar once upon a time drove some in the old country batty, hence we try now to normalize the eccentric one day of the year.
PS. Don’t worry about rhythm. It’s the desideratum we’re least able to master.

Unusual for our Misty to be absent.
I wonder if she has company today, or work, or errands.
I imagine she’ll be along to let us know.

I thought I had already posted and just came to check in on all of your verses.
Thanks reminding me about my unnecessary absence this morning. Had to look for my poems and found it under a bunch of trashy news. But here it is:
"Friendship"
One day Dottie broke her digit,
which made her cry and fidget.
So she called a friend on the phone
who was prone to help with her plight,
and who took her to a clinic that night.
How to thank her friend did Dottie baffle
so she bought her a ticket to a raffle.
Her friend won and with pleasure flipped,
and together a glass of wine they sipped.
Welcome, Misty, and welcome to your Dottie!
The poem is a classic in your familiar vein, wherein a setback of a mild nature (today’s broken digit) leads to a favorable uptick in a character’s good fortune (her pal’s winning a raffle).
The rhyme scheme is pleasant, generally in couplets, although the “B” rhyme of the 1st stanza is curiously to be found in mid-line four.
Rad!
~ OMK
Fun haiku, Ol' Man Keith, and I can imagine phantom digit toes might well make him walk on tippy-toes. Now I would also love an explanation of that "B"rhyme in my verse--has me totally baffled.
Owen, Little Nell, queen of the hill, certainly has a lot of skill.
CanadianEh!, great how your April fools solved their plight in the night and awoke from their joke. Bet they have a fun month ahead!
Have a good month too, Wilbur.
But, Misty, why are you baffled?
Just take another look at how your poem appears on the site page.
Your B-word "phone" falls correctly at the end of the line.
Your C-word "plight" is at the end of the following line, followed by your second C-word "night" at the end of the next line.
But where is your second B-word?
(I believe you meant it to be "prone.")
What baffles you?
