Today’s Jumble haiku:
(My fave short comedy is The Music Box with Laurel & Hardy [1932], especially the first 15 minutes.
In it, the Boys deliver a piano up the steepest steps in SoCal.)

No Skimping on Laughs

The piano trudge,
with garbled grunts, up those steps,
hits the super mark.

I pledge allegiance to myself
To be more than "off the shelf".
I am special,
I'm top level!
I deserve both health and wealth!

"Retirement"

Tess at her job did trudge,
but tried hard not to judge
her partners who did garble
and played games of marble.

When she retired she did no longer skimp,
and decided not to be a wimp.
She taught herself how to sew
and how to play her new piano.

Her marketing had made her a trouper
and so her retirement was super.

Goodness, Misty, seems like Tess wasted all her “working” years just trudging along.
I guess her job (whatever it was, playing “games of marble”) didn’t inspire her creative energies. The poor soul had to wait decades before retirement freed her to explore areas that had been left fallow.

The moral? ‘Tis a good thing the combination of longevity and early retirement nowadays allows people like Tess to “find themselves” in the latter half of their existence.

Another go at today's Jumble*:
(I was never into the Mushroom Kingdom games, but their popularity causes me to wonder about their jobs. Guiseppe is apparently the "normal" brother; the other two are "special" guys. What motivates Luigi and his brah...?
Could this be...)

"... Super Mario's Credo?"

Not being an ultra church-goer,
nor a brisk imp who indulges sugar bowl treats
(neither a religious zealot nor hyperactive flamethrower),
I won't be found zooming through the streets.
Mornings, after I eat, wash, pee, an' know my first call,
I head out at a pace pledged to be steady,
not rushed, but by mid-day reckoned to cover all,
all my clients, not to miss any--
as long as they're ready.

OMK- were you driving your Chevy to the _____ like I was before I got onto the shelf.

No time or gumption to create today, but I have enjoyed you all. Thanks.

Small World Dept., CEh!
I was indeed rollin’ my Chevy in that direction. Ya got me!
Sorry you’re not with us for long today. I hope your gumption returns tomorrow, and that you’ll be able to come back to review today’s efforts.
Since I take Sundays off, my main weekend contributions are here, on Saturday. I hope you’ll find something to amuse.

We noticed, Wilbur.
I sometimes intend to respond the following day, but don’t always remember to keep the previous day open when I’m posting notes for the current day.
It is helpful when you either save your post, or re-post it on the current day.

I see that you and CanadianEh both managed to solve it in 4, and all 3 of us somehow hit on the first 2 letters before getting the answer.
But I don’t suppose you reached LEVEE (as we did) before your success.
