I wish I lived in Florida sunshine
Maybe Boca Raton for me and mine.
Golden beach sand
Would surely feel grand!
Just sit on shore with a glass of wine!

The year was fourteen-ninety-two.
From Spain, by force Moors flew.
A sailor (who was bad at math)
Convinced Isabella to supply him craft.

A fleet of only three small ships,
Around the world's sea did risk.
Thru squalls and storms and calm,
They sailed on and on. And on. And on...

The crews grew wearied, and unsure
Their admiral would e'er find shore.
Columbus got many a dirty look.
To quell doubts, he fudged the logbook.

If asked if he had ever felt any disquiet
Of falling off the edge, he'd flatly deny it!

Greetings all. Thanks for your continued kind thoughts.

FLN (cont.), Misty ~ It occurs to me that the h-word may be the hardest to spot.
It should help to know that English pronunciation of the initial letter “p” includes a slight aspiration as the lips part.
This is written in phonetic text as a small “h” superscribed just after and above the “p.”

I hope this helps.

Enjoying your visit, CEh!
Your W graph shows your usual fine care. At four levels, you prove the path to Par.

"Sad Accusation"

Nanny was ninety and still fleet,
eager for company to meet and greet.
She was well educated and a bit nerdy,
and her home was tidy and never dirty.

So she was shocked to be accused of a squall
they said she had started at the mall.
She did firmly and flatly deny it,
and thankfully the press didn't buy it.

But to make sure this didn't happen any more
she now shops online, and not at a store.

Ol' Man Keith, my apology and thanks for explaining your yesterday verse. You're right, the J words are all there, in the places you indicate. Very clever, I should have caught them.

Well, your Nanny is surely a smarty, Misty!
~ Your sense of rhythm is becoming surer with each new piece. I could almost sing your words today.
I’m with you & don’t believe Nanny started any squalls; still, given her “fleet” and nimble nature, I am not surprised she might be thought guilty of such gusto!
Others can be excused for retiring at age 90, but Nanny obviously has several good years ahead of her. Shopping on line should help to preserve her strength.

If she is looking for a place to earn some extra cash, I am sure the venerable Hadley Castle Car Works would have a position for her. They are an old company, partly fictitious, but still growing.
Maybe they can use American reps; I am sure they know how to appreciate the wisdom of age.

Time must’ve weighed differently for Columbus & his crew, Owen. It is nearly impossible for us to grasp how the days “felt” when they had no sense of a “final” date for their voyages.
Without an end-date, a deadline, they would be wondering if they’d fall off the planet, or stagnate in the Doldrums, or whether the first of their convoy would creep up on the rear of the third, or if they would simply sail on.
Or, as you aptly put it, on—and on and on and on….

____________
PS.
What could he “fudge” in his log?
Change the dates, perhaps, so if any peeked, they’d probably see they only left Europe last week—
not two years ago?

Thank you for your very kind comments on my verse, Ol' Man Keith--greatly appreciated.

And thank you for suggesting Nanny check out your Hadley Castle Car Works. I think she probably has enough retirement income that she won't be looking for work. If this is the company I checked out on the web, it sounds as though they do indeed create steel panels and steel wheels for cars.

Owen, it would be wonderful if you could retire to Boca Raton. But even if you can't, it would be lovely if you could take a little vacation there sometime. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it might work out for you this summer.

Tried to compete with your cool Wordle this morning, CanadianEh!, but nothing worked. Still, so glad to have you check in with us, even if only briefly.

Misty ~ Since you know about Hadley, you know your W solving might be helped by a car. At least you could gain a hint by looking back to the beginning of this sentence AND the very end of the preceding one!

Or check out my compliment above to CEh! —To the very same portions of that post.

Take Care at Sea

Deny it - good call!
Turn your fleet sharply
From a dirty ninety knot squall.

Enjoyed you all today.
I composed while enroute, but couldn’t post until now.
