Today’s Jumble haiku:

Word Gets Around

As the adage says,
“Inform a husky rodent?
Might’s well tell a horse!”

A quadruped stands foursquare on four feet,
Like a horse, a husky dog or a rodent.
It makes them more than bipeds fleet,
Tho hands make us bipeds more potent!

But then there are the ones in between.
Is a meerkat a biped or a quad?
Should their forepaws as feet or hands be seen?
They use them for interchangable jobs.

Then there are birds, they're bipeds all,
But no arms or hands, just wings instead.
They do have voices, and inform with their call
All around them of the thoughts in their head!

Remember the adage, "A horse is a horse,
And no one can talk with a horse, of course!"

There was a spud in Idaho,
Under the ground, where 'taters grow.
Then she got drunk
In an oil dunk,
And came out fried -- to go!

The husky policeman wore a badge
and often a home did storm,
then give his suspects an adage,
and of their rights did them inform.

He sometimes liked to horse around,
like a rodent in a tent.
But he always stayed on legal ground
and his deeds did never repent.

In the end he was considered a worthy guard
and his superiors gave him an award.

Misty ~ What a nice ol’ cop!
I guess he goes by the name o’ “Pop.”

He jokes while readin’ folks their rights,
wearin’ a big red nose & a pair a’ clown tights.

Ol' Man Keith said...

He’ll call big backup personnel in,
if he ever has to arrest a felon,
and all along the way in the paddy wagon,
he’ll riddle the perp to keep the time from draggin’.

And when it comes time for Pop to retire,
they’ll need extra time for all who admire
him, so none need practice circumscription
when adding kudos to their valediction.

And those last three four-line stanzas were each 20 minutes apart.

Owen surveys critters by their number of feet.
Quadros and bipeds lead off the herds;
their sounds don’t count, neither trumpet nor bleat.
Humans are hailed for their thumbs, not for words.

No elephants or tapirs, despite the flexi-nose;
no credit for nasal prehensility, I s’pose.

Thanks for monitoring my times, Owen!
You might want to add that those were composed while watching CNN and discussing news reports on the Dominion v Fox case with my wife.
Oh, also peeing once, and taking the dog out for his… er, ablutions.

You’re right. I hadn’t realized how many first letters were possible!
You may have hit ‘em all, except maybe for “Z”—ZOUNDs!

Yep, I have F,B,S,R as possibilities BRIEF would have been a guess to clear things up.

OMK, you've become a natural. Erato has deserted me as have Chet and Lois. I guess those two have become single-mindedly a pair.

Many couples attend meetings that met in AA and faithfully attend.

The founder adamantly warned that continued commitment to meetings and practicing principles was the only way to avoid a relapse.

One fine day for no reason whatsoever one takes a drink and invariably they are off and running

I remember Towser sitting in a group of winos . He'd been 20 years sober when I'd last seen him.

Ol' Man Keith,

A husky rodent and a horse
all worked into your haiku.
And a kind response to my own verse,
thank you, thank you, thank you.

Loved your biped and quadruped poem,
it delighted me
and made me happy, Owen.

Wilbur,

I really miss Lois and Chet,
and just hope they are happily wed.

CanadianEh!,

Brilliant Wordle today,
but we miss your chat and play.
We'd love a longer visit some day.
