The Wordle comes out at midnight.
Against your brain it puts up a fight.
But if you're up late,
Dreams you forsake,
Wordle can take up your night!

Today’s Jumble haiku:
(The ticket passed him inside. But the swollen storm clouds had other ideas…)

Pass go? Dropsical?
—Comical!

“Admit One” into
soccer, it said. But rainy
skies caused untold waits.

Arnold was a weatherman -- in nineteen-fifty-two.
Forecasting was different then, it really was voodoo!
Look up at the clouds, you might predict rain tomorrow.
Trying to see beyond that could lead on to sorrow.

Some weathermen would just lean back
And consult with the Farmer's Almanac.
But Arnold had a different way to be able.
He would cast and chart an astrological table!

He would admit that starsigns were a bit bizarre,
And what they predict depends on where you are.
But teams would schedule a soccer matchs to unfold
Based on Arnold's reputation for weather he foretold!

Play On

I must admit
That I had a fit
Thinking that rainy weather
Would cancel the soccer
- however -
Untold prayers by this player
Meant we stepped up to the plate—wait, that’s baseball!
Anyway, it was a strong omen call.

I’m back, briefly today with a very unpolished offering (after 3200 kms. of driving!)
Still in the middle of upset, but things look better for next week.
Enjoying reading you all when I get a chance.

"Soccer Blocker"

The school kids had to admit
that playing soccer was a hit.
Then on a rainy day they were bold
and played untold in the freezing cold.

They got colds that were astronomical
and their parents did not find this comical.
And so the kids had to admit
that it was time to quit.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Are we having an amazing day? I can't believe what an amazing day we're having!
If I counted everything carefully and accurately, then all four of us who have posted so far today, got all the Jumble words and solutions into our poems, and all submitted a Wordle! And Wilbur hasn't checked in with us yet, but if and when he does, this might be our most perfect and terrific Jumble day ever! Woohoo!

So, here we go:

Owen, Arnold, the weatherman got all four J words and solution into your verse, including that lovely "astrological table." We could not have untold that you would be so bold!

Ol' Man Keith, you started off with your compact Wordle. And then your haiku converted the Jumble solution into an astronomical "Pass go? Dropsical," and then sped right on with no untold wait.

Finally, CanadianEh!", what a treat to have you check in with so much neat stuff today. Your untold prayers were not a bit late, and you gave us all an astronomical "strong omen call."

Thank you all for these treats. And I have to 'admit' that I'm hoping that Wilbur won't just spend this non'rainy' day outside playing 'soccer', but will check in with an 'untold' 'astronomical' verse!

Misty has already noted this as an “amazing” day, with a fine turnout of regulars, save Wilbur alone. (But there is still time.)
I can only remark that she and I, along with Owen & CanadianEh, all seem to be celebrating (or stuck in a rut about) the weird relationship of soccer (European Football) and rainy weather.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know if they actually cancel soccer when it rains. They certainly DON’T cancel American football. Like the postal service, American footballers play in rain, sleet, mud, &c. &c.
Modern indoor (domed) stadiums are seen as a cop-out, as we oldsters remember the days when teams would out-muddy each other, so it would be hard to tell which uniform was which by game’s end!

Maybe the lack of mud is offset nowadays by the availability of something else….
Today, 4-20, maybe players can forget a veritable flood,
whether of rain or snow, & plain ol’ mud,
now that there’s such an ampleness
of the fragrant weed known as cannabis!

Your meteorologist, Arnold, was ahead of his time,
but would be out of step today, even guilty of crime.
His “table,” dear Owen, reminds me of a paper
I once turned in to my junior high grader—
a starry-eyed essay I still recall
that led to my fall,
marked “Astrology isn’t science,” not science at all!

Yay, Wilbur! ~ You made it. A grand slam!
All five of our regulars showing up with at least a Wordle.
Maybe we’ll see even more—before eight bells, or the end of this watch…

By popular demand Wilbur returns to the Erato arena

He was a new kid and you have to admit
That when it came to soccer he just didn't fit
But on that rainy recess kid faces turned red
The new kid scored a goal using his head

The odds were astronomical, how could he be so bold
All were astonished at this act of his to be forever untold

Woohoo! Woohoo! You did it Wilbur! You checked in with us with a Wordle, followed by a verse that has all four Jumble words and the solution! You've just given us the best day, at least in my memory, that this blog has ever seen! Woohoo! Thank you all for this amazing gift!
