Today’s Jumble haiku
(An old Irish belief in the good fortune transferred from their missing snakes to the local reptile population holds that good luck may be gained by travelers who treat geckos well. They must begin by letting one draw the voyager aside…

As Mary O’Sullivan was about to depart from Belfast, she recalled spotting a little fellow that…)

Lulled Me Over

She knelt to give the
lizard a crumb. “Bon Voyage!”
it hissed… kissing her!

I’m writing this poem to you, my dear,
cuz thinking of you brings a wee bit o’ cheer.
There’s a break in the action, so I’ve set down my spear,
& I’ll send this by dove if the weather is “ ….. . “

We see through a glass, darkly,
The stars in the sky, sparkly.
The time is near,
We'll see full clear
The ends of the universe, starkly!

The Dragon knelt, as he prayed to his gods
To protect him from those tin can clods.
They kept showing up to steal his gold,
Or take away his girlfriend, Princess Rose.

It would be a fortnight, she'd escape again
Favoring the lizard o'er some hapless swain.
He'd cook crumb cake to keep her fed,
They'd play backgammon till time for bed.

Then some knight would come errant-ing,
Riding dragon-food, fearfully prancing.
He'd declare he'd "voyaged from afar..."
(Local boys knew Rose's taste bizarre.)

Rose would mull it over, eventually surrender,
While Dragon got some horse-flesh, nice and tender.

Orijinz:
They're known as execs, C. something O's.
V. I. P's, suits, because of their clothes.
Head or founder,
Chair or partner,
Whatever their titles, they're the honchos!

18 seconds for Orijinz. Thanks Owen, you make it easy for me.

Mover Omelet

To pack for his upcoming voyage,
The lizard knelt down in his cottage.
A huge breakfast started the day,
Then with crumbs all whisked away
Clearly he was ready to play.

OMK- once again, a hard J reveal for making a title. I was forced into an alternate to a Denver Omelet, while you kept closer to the mulled- lulled idea. Very imaginative backstory and haiku.

Owen- your J poem has so many layers that I had to reread it several times (and still may have missed some gems). Poor captive Princess Rose, eating crumb cake and playing backgammon. But the poor knight’s steed that becomes dragon food! I loved “come errant-ing”.

"Rhyme Conversation"

So what word would rhyme with KNELT?
How about a guy wearing a 'belt'?

What's a classy way to rhyme CRUMB?
That question is totally 'dumb'.

Keep this up and I'll go on a VOYAGE.
If you do, try to act your 'age'.

You remind me of a LIZARD.
I'm actually much more like a 'wizard'.

So how do you like my MULLET?
Have you any cash in your wallet?

I think this conversation is OVER.
But don't you think I was a good 'rover'?

CanadianEh! said...

Misty- Wow! You were a good ‘rover (whatever that is?). I smiled broadly at your hilarious way of creating a poem of rhyming couplets using all those disjointed J words. Some days are just like that.

O' Man Keith, that has to be the most romantic and sweet verse you have ever given us on this blog. I hope the dove delivered this sweet note to his dear one, and my Wordle should convince your lover that the weather was friendly and.....

CanadianEh!, I was so surprised that your lizard was able to kneel down? So I looked him up and learned that lizards to indeed have little legs of sorts that are able to bend, and, in a sense, to kneel. The things you learn on this blog. Anyway, I'm sure he enjoyed his breakfast, and will have a fun day playing.

Owen, what a potentially sad romantic story about your sophisticated Dragon who was able to kneel and pray to the gods. How sad that Princess Rose might not have valued him and treasured him enough to ward off those clods and even those Knights who could not have been nearly as caring as her sweet Dragon. It would be great if you wrote a sequel and we could find out how everything ended for everybody.

I guess even a lizard can attest to the virtue of a hearty breakfast, CEh!
Especially when he’s such a neatnik…
A “mover omelet,” eh? Well, why not?

Well, at least, Misty, we can take it for granted that Irish women can kneel. You may have been dubious about lizard’s ability, but I notice you didn’t check whether they hiss… or kiss!
And let me say I admire your range of rhymes!

“Riding dragon food” is my favorite phrase, Owen, & it established whose p.o.v. we were following. (Sorry, Buttermilk, this ain’t your day!

Today’s Jumble haiku:

Just nuances, mere
blips & sniffs of radar tell
whole aviaries.
