The Kraken is asleep
In the briny deep.
But pity the sailor
Who dares to wake her!
Faith in a god
Will prove to be flawed
As arms reach out
And wrap about.
The sucker rings
Like leeches cling.
The tar is stuck.
They suck, they suck.
Meal is skimpy,
Body hangs limply.
Once a shipmate
Whose daring was great,
Only skin and bones
For Davey Jones.

Love this poem. You do seem to have multiple styles at your disposal. Never really knew what a Kraken was, so you motivated me to Google it, and you certainly have captured some of the terror it inspired.
The jumble solution was really easy. Again, it was obvious even without the clues. But I unscrambled them anyway, and did have some problem with that stinky vowel-heavy fourth. But I did get it. I suspect that could be the one that inspired the poem, too.
Fun Jumble this morning. I got all the items, with only a little play with the fourth one, and the theme filled in quickly. Lots of fun, and I loved your poem, Owen--there they were, all the clue words and the solution--many thanks for the delight. Have a great day, everybody!
I got all but#4 .Then I peeked at the riddle and that went smoothly.
So, I figured out the missing letters and inserted them into the holes on #4. Finally got it and dodged a V8 can.
I had to re-read the poem to see how smoothly it fell. Anybody see the Geico ad that featured the Kraken at the par 3 water hole?
