It was an old fashioned, full service barber shop. Why, you could get a full haircut, a sideburn buzz, a mustache shaping, a beard crop, trim, a shine, and a cold beer to go.

I got too busy to finish the last two J's yesterday. The CC takes awhile and then I was off to Ocala/ Dunellon. Septic inspector is coming in ten minutes.

#3 held me up but the riddle-solution was a snap.

Xena and Herc hooked up later and her sidekick started to kick ass along with her.

Yes, I looked at the cartoon and the bubbles and the solution jumped right out; definitely a snap.

I wondered how you were going to get those four diverse clues -- especially that fourth one --into one coherent poem, Owen, but you surely did. Good advice, too.

FLN, yes, OMK, Kobe's death was very sad, but what I found tragic was that the two girls, his daughter and her teammate, died so young. I keep thinking about them.

Fun poem, though the third stanza shocked me a little, Owen. But I guess not bad advice, if that's Xena we're talking to. Yes, the Jumble was a snap, as Sandyanon said--I too got all four words and the solution instantly. I love that the Jumble cartoonists have people of color in the pictures so often, and the couple today are especially cute with their glasses. Loved seeing those fishes on the wall, along with the picture of the fishers below. Very fun cartoon all around, with a nice gloss on the solution from Ol'Man Keith.

Forgot to say that the fate of the young thirteen year olds on the plane with Kobe is desperately sad. When I think of all the famous people who have died in small plane crashes over the years, John Kennedy Jr. comes to mind right away, and Ozzie Nelson's son (what was his name) and John Denver, I believe, and others, how tragic.

Rick Nelson was the son of Ozzie & Harriet who died.
It does seem that a disproportionate number of famous names die in such crashes. But it is hard to draw conclusions, given the special attention given to those "names" and the vast number of flights every day.

Awaiting word now from the hospital where my wife Janice underwent spinal surgery this morning. It has been scheduled for months, and we have confidence in the surgeon. But it is hard just to wait for the phone to ring.

Even worse than I knew. Just read an update, and there were three 13-year-old teammates on that helicopter, plus parents of one, mother of another and father (Kobe) of the third. Three devastated families at least. I so hate to to think of children dying.

I'm with you, Sandy. Probably the only thing sadder than children dying is their parents knowing they're dying. When I think of Kobe going down with his daughter beside him...
And now the others too.

It is strange to think of such sad news--when I just got the Good news from my wife's surgeon that her procedure went well. It lasted longer than expected (abt 5 hours, making me very nervous while waiting) but "her bones are robust, so we expect full recovery." Happy news here!

So glad Janice's procedure went well, Ol'Man Keith. Please give us an update on how's she's doing tomorrow. And take care of yourself during this stressful time too.

Still waiting for the 1/28 posting just after 2am PDT.
Owen may be sleeping. I'm pretty tired too,
Ho.
Hum.
So I'll check back in after 10 or so...
