|Smiley face| _cloak, alibi, feisty, appear, piece of (the) "pi".

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

This is another one with a really obvious solution without even checking the clues; it just popped right up. Only, thank goodness, the clues were obvious too, this time, once I looked at them.

Actually pretty clever pun, though by far not the first I've seen on this topic.

Which leads to the question, why wasn't this jumble published on Narch 14 ???

”His Peace Overture?”

Vlad appeared in court
with a feisty alibi
that cloaked his true heart.

"Spy Defies Lie"

The feisty spy had an alibi
he used his arrest to defy.
He claimed it was a joke
to say he was wearing a cloak
when into a bank he broke.
The piece in the press made it appear
that he was a man who had no fear.
But it was all a lie,
and he did firmly and convincingly deny
that he was anything but an honorable guy.

OK, well, your "feisty spy" was able to pull it off in the end.
Misty, I guess one really must be an excellent liar if one's going to be a spy. Lying kinda goes with the territory. Though I'm not sure that bank-robbing does.
I wonder if that's why the judges of war crimes let each side hang the other's spies...?
If someone is captured in uniform, he 's a POW & must be treated with care.
But spies are considered unethical. They get the axe. (Or the rope, or chair, or needle....)

OMK, I'm afraid the only thing I know about a spy is that he or she rhymes with alibi.

Whenever I first look at your verse, I think, well, not a lot of Jumble words in that one. Then I get the list, and there they all are--every time. Amazing. The only one we're both missing this morning is PI--tough to work that one into a verse, what with its 3141 count.

Misty ~ Challenge accepted!
I had a 2nd haiku, independent of the first.
Here ya go:

My Sylvie’s tough, but peaceful at heart; her nickname…
Rhymes With Pie

She’s feisty-like, Sy
is. Appears she don’ cloak love
wif no alibi.

How about this?
It’s not a J-Word haiku, but…

“All we are saying
is give peace a chance.”— Lennon
(A favorite quote.)
