Todayโs Jumble haiku:
(A particular lecture, focused on the precise issue of transgressions that are less than acceptable in church bingo parlorsโฆ)
โA Narrow Rantโ
The sermonโs main plank
deals with growth in sinful ways
โpast Bible quotas.

You can hike the mountain trail, but beware an avalanche.
You can go to the Prom, but first please learn to dance!
You can climb a tall tree, but donโt fall off the branch.
You can herd more cattle, but donโt dare mortgage the โฆ..!

The close-knit mesh gave protection
From insects that were rife with infection.
This posed a challenge to a narrow gnat
Whose attitude was quite arrogant!
He preached a sermon on the buggy belief
That every human was designed for a feast.
And vowed that thru that hateful curtain
He would penetrate, he was certain!
He had a plank in his gnaty tenets
That a net was just a knotty presence.
And it was one of nature's laws
That every mesh had a quota of flaws!
Did it stunt his growth, I pause to inquire,
His determination to teleport thru this wire?
Dan gave a hand with the dressing.
The quiet house was depressing.
Designed for a dude
With a Western attitude,
Tho the cattle and something was missing. .

Sorry, I never made it here yesterday. I spent hours sitting in traffic. This weekend is busy too and I may not make it back.
Good day to you all.
โLook to the ant, you sluggardโ; like an arrow points the way, you may be guided.
Go Arrow Ants
The sermon quoted the Proverb.
Look to a range of examples superb,
Donโt dig up lank excuses,
See the growth work produces.
Gotta love auto-correct. Wee-Haw turned into Hiawatha!
Enjoyed your offerings OMK and Owen.
"Powerful Pastor"
When our pastor achieved his quota
we rewarded him with a soda.
He enlarged our minds and our growth
and we celebrated both.
He was outspoken and frank
and refused to walk the plank.
He occasionally used German
to sophisticate his sermon.
His views were wide and not narrow
and he sang hymns like a sparrow.
Our congregation totally revered him,
and after every sermon we cheered him.
Thank you, thank you, OMK: your helpful hint helped me get today's Wordle on one try:

Ya gotta love itโwhen your choice of a starter word is nearly the same as where you wanna end up.
It almost feels like giving away the store merely to state my starter today.
Letโs just say it is the most popular (perhaps) of origami shapes.
Good to see you, CEh! ~ if only briefly.
Thank you for your very practical summary of a sermon. In the Puritan tradition, eh?
Was it in the New World that preachers went from threatening hellfire to the realization that any lack of personal industry was its own sufficient damnation?
Misty ~ I love how your preacher โsang hymns like a sparrow.โ He certainly had a close & sympathetic relationship with his congregation. I can just hear those cheers!
And you are welcome to my hints. Glad to be of service. (I feel left out when you donโt follow up.)

Regarding my haiku today, I do like to suppose that there are "Bible quotas" for sins.
Yes, I reckon I am bending scripture to my own ends, but isn't that what we're all doing these days?
Even those who claim that English language versions are the "literal and unerring word of God" (in ENGLISH, for Pete's sake?!), are divided over some of the clearest passages. Human scribes, y'know.
So, hey, I think we're allowed some leeway with sinning. Churches need to be human, after all.
OK, I gotta finish my weekly "Day-Off Poem."
See ya later...

OMK, your Jumble inspired haiku always delights me, and the one today was a pleasure. And you then gave us a second verse that sounded very much like a sermon! Can't wait to see what your Sunday specialty will be tomorrow.
Owen, there aren't many verses that give us a narrow arrogant gnat! Delightful.
CanadianEh!, I liked the way your verse gave us a sermon on how to respond to the sermon.
Wilbur, since I don't know sports I had to look up Rickie Fowler. Sounds like he and his wife are both great athletes.
Misty, Ricky is a Cali guy who was very successful and then fell by the wayside for the last several years. He found a new Golf Pro/instructor and is his old self.
I saw his wife and they mentioned a child. I didn't know she was an athlete mais tres jolie.
The tournament is at LA CC and the city is in the background
There's a half dozen going to fight it out tomorrow
