Farewell, Blues

I’m highly susceptible to the ailment, S.A.D.*
and this is the season when I feel it bad.
From May Gray’s depths through the start of June Gloom,
a pall of darkness seems to herald my doom.

Today’s day-off may provide the time I want
to while away time before a lamp that can vaunt
ten thousand lux of a strong white light
that dispels my misery with a source so bright
it frightens my demons—scares ‘em good!—
showing up depression as a fictive falsehood.

If others on this page are in a similar situation,
I recommend sunlight as the best medication.
But, failing that, go for strong illumination
for an hour of placation ‘til you feel real elation.

Have a Happy Sunday;
see y’all on Monday!

Two, three, four of iguana,
Two, three, four of aardvark.
Mash them together we're gonna,
Then comes the next hard part,
Protection from the other fauna!

Ho can this happens? I swear I didn't look at any hints! You'd think probabilities would protect against this happening even twice on a year, let alone twice in week!?

"Recovery"

Her friends did Sandy assure
that the sport would not her injure.
But the game did not go smooth
and caused Sandy to break a tooth.

The experience was sad and abysmal
and made Sandy depressed and dismal.
Her friends tried this shadow to unlock
by bringing her a generous stock
of appetizers she could gobble
to help her spirits to no longer wobble.

All that social networking worked well,
and gave Sandy a recovery spell.

OMK, your Sunday poems are the best. They always make me want to come to your station to get your elation!

Owen, at first I thought your poem made you an animal lover, but now I'm not so sure. Hope that aardvark and that iguana weren't literally mashed!

Cool looking Wordles, Owen and Wilbur.

S.A.D. sufferers can improve their mood by getting outside in the sunlight, but must beware the dangers of what their fears might be imagining in the shadows.

What? No! - So I’ll (be) Lurking

Though It may seem a dismal morning,
Gobble your smoothie with no delay,
Unlock your door and greet the day.
But I give you a fair warning,
The sun the sky will be transforming.
Be on guard to not injure your toe,
By tripping over your own shadow.

CanadianEh!, you too did a fabulous job working all the Jumble words into a terrific verse. Thank you for the warning and I'll do my best not to trip over my shadow.

Misty- Owen took the words iguana and aardvark and mashed them into the Wordle. Very creative.
Thanks Owen for the jigsaw puzzle too.

Misty- glad Susan recovered.

OMK- I hope you are rejuvenated after your Sabbath break..I took up your S.A.D. theme for my J poem. I find November to be my sad month.

FLN WC- yes, I managed to get the W and J poem done, even when I didn’t have time for the CW and Corner. It helped keep me sane.
