Today’s Jumble haiku:
“Shin Proud”
The dunce cried, “Unfair!”
Going in his act, he’d wrenched
‘bove his ankle bone.

The hike had been long, and the trail dusty.
The horse had pulled hard, the wagon axles' rusty.
Ahead was their destination, in view at last.
A stop for the night, for refresh and repast.
The inn wasn't crowded, it wasn't market day.
For any but travellers, it was out of the way.
But Nevin was glad for a bed for the night,
And a stable for his horse, with the going of the light.
Some grease for his axles, the innkeeper could spare.
'Twas unfair the sorcerer Nevin sought wasn't there.
A wave of his staff, and the job would be done.
Instead, like a dunce, Nevin crawled under the grunge.
Morning came, and wrenched the traveller away
To continue his journey for another day.

"Good Guy"
A few people thought Dan a dunce,
though they liked his doing stunts.
But Dan enjoyed going sailing and rowing
and helped rescue boats with towing.
He was never unkind or unfair
and did parts of his income share.
He never did anything wrench
and was considered a decent mensch.
This made him the hero of his in-crowd,
and this, in turn, made him feel proud.
Don’t listen to the noise of those who would distract you from what you value most in life.

How totally unfair
To wrench a person from all they know,
Have them going to and fro,
Then a dunce them declare.
Haters there will always be,
Live your life and be free.
Do I detect, CEh, a sly political barb in your poem?

Interesting start to a story about Nevin, Owen. Hope he has a good night's sleep and a good day tomorrow, and we'll look forward to finding out what comes next!
