FLN, Owen ~ Taking to heart your critique, I will drop the initial letter from the rhymed W-word. Just to make the game a wee bit harderโ€ฆ

โ€œShin Proudโ€

The dunce cried, โ€œUnfair!โ€
Going in his act, heโ€™d wrenched

The hike had been long, and the trail dusty.
The horse had pulled hard, the wagon axles' rusty.
Ahead was their destination, in view at last.
A stop for the night, for refresh and repast.

The inn wasn't crowded, it wasn't market day.
For any but travellers, it was out of the way.
But Nevin was glad for a bed for the night,
And a stable for his horse, with the going of the light.

Some grease for his axles, the innkeeper could spare.
'Twas unfair the sorcerer Nevin sought wasn't there.
A wave of his staff, and the job would be done.
Instead, like a dunce, Nevin crawled under the grunge.

Morning came, and wrenched the traveller away
To continue his journey for another day.

(To be continued.)

The Mad Hatter explained to Alice, the party
Was an unbirthday party, for all in the party!
Alice said, "Then I'll away,
For my birthday's today!"
That error meant Alice was soon a depart-ee!

(The Mad Hatter is a red herring.)

"Good Guy"

A few people thought Dan a dunce,
though they liked his doing stunts.
But Dan enjoyed going sailing and rowing
and helped rescue boats with towing.
He was never unkind or unfair
and did parts of his income share.
He never did anything wrench
and was considered a decent mensch.
This made him the hero of his in-crowd,
and this, in turn, made him feel proud.

Donโ€™t listen to the noise of those who would distract you from what you value most in life.

Crowd Din

How totally unfair
To wrench a person from all they know,
Have them going to and fro,
Then a dunce them declare.
Haters there will always be,
Live your life and be free.

Do I detect, CEh, a sly political barb in your poem?
If so, it is well aimed today.

Dan seems a well-balanced sort, Misty, capable of rising above his detractors. Good for him--and you!

Another one of your all-Jumble-words-and solution haikus, Ol Man Keith--always impressive!

Interesting start to a story about Nevin, Owen. Hope he has a good night's sleep and a good day tomorrow, and we'll look forward to finding out what comes next!

You too, CanadianEh!, worked all J words into your verse, with a fun twist on the solution with "Crowd Din". Very clever!

Lots of cool-looking Wordles today. Now we'll just need Wilbur's to finish it off!

OMK- I am an innocent Canadian, who may have inadvertently evoked an American issue. But if the shoe fits . . .
I smiled at your haiku, and title.

Misty- great rhyming today. I loved dunce/stunts and wrench/mensch. Dan does seem like a good guy, and certainly not a dunce.

Owen- we eagerly await the second instalment of your wonderful poem.
If Hatter is a red herring, where is the W? Wait, I just found it in the last line. Nice hiding job.

Thanks for checking in with us, Wilbur. It's bedtime, or I'd try the Wordle using your THROW word. See you tomorrow.
