Mea culpa ~ Last night I fell asleep before posting. All day long I thought I had left my message, so am now surprised and sorry to see that I skipped the 20th entirely.
Well, here is my humble offering for today's solution:
When only 12, he dressed up for Halloween--quite successfully--as a beggar in tattered clothes, and he adopted a shambling walk. He still goes trick-or-treating as a full-grown wretch, but many residents say he's now just too old to play that game.

Bilbo riddles Smaug
From underhill and afar I've traveled
Under the mountain things unravelled
A hectic fight ensued, orc heads were clove
After a mishap, I met him and his precious love
With some exertion we flew on eagle wings
Through woods and webs and spidery things
Elvish mischief, dungeons and barrel riding
To the home stretch and dragon tidings

Bilbo lived in a Hobbit hole. He, the dwarves and Gandalf took a shortcut under a mountain where they battled orcs. Bilbo got lost, met Gollum(him) and got the ring(his beloved precious).
Eagles brought them to the edge of the woods where they got entangled in spider webs. Elves captured the dwarves , put them in their dungeon but Bilbo engineered their escape via wine barrels .

Woohoo! You did it Wilbur! I had trouble with items three and four and was in a hurry and decided to come here for help. And there they were, right there in your verse, and that gave me the solution, which Ol'Man Keith's funny gloss confirmed. Cute cartoon with the pregnant mom and the house addition in construction in the background.
This one was a toughie for me. The clues were medium difficult (specifically three and four), but appeared after some thought. Couldn't get the solution, maybe because my thoughts were locked on to "last stages", even though the letters weren't there. So I went away and came back a couple of times, and finally, there it was, d'oh! Appreciated it once I got it.
Wilbur, your poem is so entertaining. Especially liked the way you snuck in precious love.
Owen,I feel pretty dense not to be able to understand most of your definitions. Got the easy baseball one, though. I'll keep trying.
