An eagle, from its lofty perch in its station aerie,
Sent air-mail letters out, on its stationery.
It warned its prey to stay alert when it was a-hunting.
Bunnies were no fun to kill with ears that flapped like bunting.

Bunnies were a tempting treat, this they understood.
But to get a note like this was, they thought, no good!
A poison pen was not the way a raptor should behave,
And so they called a lawyer from their warren cave.

A wolf responded to their call, a shyster at his best.
He saw the case as liable to be a written libel test!
He agreed to spend the time, and totally the eagle sue.
But demanded as his retainer, a pot of rabbit stew!

A charming poem, Owen, even if somewhat anti-Lapine. Fun to read aloud.
I'd say it's worthy of Aesop (2.0), with an unstated moral, but one easy enough to draw.

Inspired (indirectly) by today's solution:
He had to test at least a hundred pair of denim trousers for comfort & durability--mainly Levis and Lees--for the Consumer Quality Research Bureau. He had only two days to make his quota.
Lees bent
easily at the knees at first wearing, he noted, whereas Levis were stiff and slow to adapt even after twenty knee-bends.

My goodness, things are tougher in the animal world than in the human one, according to your poem, Owen. Had trouble with the fourth word of the Jumble, but there it was in your second verse--many thanks. And your funny gloss confirmed that I got it right, Ol'Man Keith. Very funny cartoon with the two women in different outfits and hairdos, with all those packages and a purse. And, they sure look exhausted, don't they?

They do indeed, Misty.
I doubt they have a single purchase left between 'em.

Oh, those ARE women. I thought perhaps we had Dave and Jeff again. Wolves do get a bad rap. Especially in the dating scene:"Stay away from that wolf, Margie!"

Fun poem, no doubt. I posted late FLN. Or FLAM.

I had no problem with the four J's. I just had to find a word that used a bunch of T's and L's. What was left, voila

Owen, your description solved my question about the Roku screen saver. That Ferris wheel thangy. As it moves right monsters start eating the city
