Toward the end of the war, US Army armament experts received several captured German Panzer V tanks. They wanted to reverse-engineer them, but it took too long to take them all apart.

Woohoo! Woohoo! I got it, including the solution. The words this morning looked so daunting to me, and when I finally got around to re-arranging them, the second and fourth answers looked a bit nutty to me too. But I got the funny solution instantly--a delight! And Ol'Man Keith, how do you come up with those crazy little stories to produce your gloss? You've become part of the fun of Jumble solving.

Boom boom the loony long-ball bird
Had connected, and now stood on third
As the roars abated , Boomer stood apart
As usual , the horse behind the cart.

Never suspecting coarse tricks, he was in for shock'a
As he stepped foolishly off the bag,
Shifty Smith crept up and placed the tag
"Hidden ball trick, bozo, I gotcha"

I couldn't get the two 6's. I got one and the remaining two letters got me the other.

Enjoy the poem

Just checking in. Good poem, Wilbur, thank you! Every time I started one (some twist on the old control tower and noise abatement joke, I got distracted to a tangent on current events, so finally gave up and decided to take a day off. I was also upset by the non-standard English word (at least IMHO) of "gotcha". If I hadn't been working it online so that I got a confirmation on it, I wouldn't have believed it could be correct!

Yes--a neat poem, WC! Thanks for it!
Owen, I quite understand your re-direction to "current events." I've been so occupied with our Dear Leader's pronouncements today, I told the Corner I had nothing to say.
Nothing that wouldn't have been censored.

Hi Owen, glad to see you check in. Fun poems, Wilbur--what talent we have on this blog. And I perfectly understand your frustration today, O'Man Keith. You have a right to be a bit down. But tomorrow is another day! See you all then!
