Seek Peas Son
Let me sketch out a plan.
Pick as many pods as you can,
Don’t prune the plants bearing peas.
The opportunity you must seize;
Don’t be noisy on your approach,
The palace walls you must broach.
Dump those hard peas in her bed,
An uncomfortable Princess will happily wed.
LOL OMK- you took the J answer and were Seek(Ing) Peace, while I was Seek(ing) Peas. But it is an honourable search to draw the drapes for some peace and quiet. A good thing for kids to learn at a young age. (Sketch palace is new to me? - another poetic licence word like knock!).
Misty should have no problem with the W today with all our clues, especially OMK’s lisping ones.
"Jolly Job"
Alice lived in Dallas,
and was able to work at the palace.
Her first job had a noisy boon,
when garden plants she had to prune.
But one day she painted a sketch
which did her opportunities stretch.
And this ended up being the reason
why autumn became her peak season.
Now Alice is happy with her art
and will not from the palace depart.

My “sketch palace,” CEh, started as a special home set aside by the king for the arts education of his subjects’ children.
It was going to have a class in Still Life that would feature Prunes (among other fruit), but as I ran out of space I shifted the J-word Prune to the title “Soon.”
Gradually other art-ideas faded—until I lost most of the original plan. But you will note that I kept the pun with the hint of a drawing room, where kids could still “…draw the drapes….”
I think your title is quite good. And I appreciate the thoroughness in which you provide the preparation for that insomniac princess’ bed! Brava!
Your poem, Misty, has a rollicking rhythm to it. Fun to read!
Of course, Dallas Alice must work at the palace. What a natural!
And I am glad—tho’ a bit surprised—that you got the W in one. Even with all our hints, this was a real toughie.

Misty- There’s a palace in Dallas?! I must visit. I loved the rhyming Alice/Dallas. It seems that she moved from pruning in the the garden to painting in the drawing room (I’m channeling OMK here!). Her happiness in her work is the best part.
OMK- thanks for explaining your route to the final haiku. Sometimes I make numerous changes, and sometimes my poem just flows. I see now that interpreting sketch palace as an artistic educational spot, gives a new meaning to drawing the drapes. I like it.
WC- yes, truly a lucky shot with only one letter to make your third guess.
Owen- FLN- yes, you tricked me. I missed the hidden W. Yes, you had the word, but the Y sound was different. That’s my excuse anyway.

Sorry I'm so late. Way overslept. Actually, one of my "coma" sleeps (my word, i don't know what anyone else would call it). Sleep for about 12 hours straight and no one can wake me. It's happening to me a couple days a week. My circadian rhythm is messed up.

I started with a J, no E per usual. On #3 the gamble was duplicating the T; if no hits I've wasted a guess.
It was the placement of the N that gave me the idea
Also, saving the E helped. That's why I never use it on #1
