FLN:
In Brief
If a line of verse is too long, we have a way
To make it sound more comely, not to splay
Beyond the ear's endurance. The caesura
Allows for breathing, and it won't give Nature a
Stretch she can't abide. One still must keep
A regular beat.
Beware of of meter-creep!

His mom had a habit, whenever he got sassy, of grabbing him by the scruff of his neck.
He was getting too old for that, he reckoned.
But when he walked out after telling her he didn't need her permission to go to a late-night dance party, she didn't hesitate to fetch him home by his f**kin' hip-hop nape!

Thought this jumble was Monday easy, though I didn't try the solution til I had all the letters. Then it popped right up. Kinda cute, and I like the strong woman vibe in the cartoon.

Hope Owen is ok.

So today, OMK, you gave us a break
With a clever caesura
Without a mistake.
We're now sure you're a
Bard, and not a fake.

Not so frisky,
Ms. Misty!

(With apologies to Owen's apologies to RLS...)

I am but a would-be bard, moved upon occasion
To sing a song or tell a tale, if it adds persuasion
To a theme that’s caught my interest. With verse I merely flirt
To borrow ears and open eyes. ‘Tis a poem’s charm to convert.

I never was in tip-top shape
A rotund physique was my fate.
Too lazy, I, to exercise,
Or otherwise affect my size.
Neither gourmet nor gourmand,
I only eat my bod's demand.
I don't think I am a glutton,
Altho I do eat more than nothin'.
Faced with ice cream, I, without quibble,
Will apply a spotty hippo nibble.

Owen, that last line is absolutely ingenious.

Good to see Owen with his sweet, comic couplets.
I wonder what's keeping Wilbur.
Saw him on the Corner, but he's late to summit here.

Owen, I loved your poem.
Ol'Man Keith your verse is a treat.
Wilbur, come back to our coven,
With your gift of poetic feet.
Sandy, you are our treasure,
But hey, you all give me pleasure.
I love being on this blog
Even without my dog.

Hey, Dusty, it's late. Let's go to bed.
