The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Canyon Consolation:
Rangers are happy to report (as a solace to families who have lost kin in this manner) that even when bodies have fallen from the Canyon's high rims into swamps and watery areas at the base, the pond sedge rarely grows thick or high enough to hide the remains from search parties.

This was a jumble where I got the solution before the clues. It brought back memories of the time I visited the Grand Canyon with my oldest grandson when he was a child. Yes, he enjoyed getting close to the rim and scaring me. Fortunately we both survived.
I'll return to check for poems.
Delightful Jumble cartoon, and so nice to see it in those bright colors here on the blog. I had to work a little to get the first, third and fourth words, but like Sandyanon, the solution popped up instantly.
What a sad gloss, Ol'Man Keith. I'll be sure to hedge the rim if I ever visit the Grand Canyon.
The next stop on the return agenda would be Rivendell,
Where Bilbo's focus would be on the pleasures of the Dell
Where Elrond and the happy folk frolicked and played
And was the most delightful place that he'd ever stayed.
For Bilbo, to be aglow, be gay and there happily abide
Gandalf was on edge and in Elrond often would confide.
While music played and elves sang and danced
The Wizard's brow was furrowed and he looked askance
At merriment, for he had pressing business in the south
Where the the river Anduin flowed to the gray sea's mouth.

If only Tolkien mentioned Snoopy this would have been easier
Yes, Wilbur, I don't know if Hobbits kept pet dogs, but if so, they would have been miniature breeds, right? Snoopy would have looked quite large next to Bilbo.
P.S. I had to look hard to find the Snoopy sub, and I think you were very ingenious.
Yep and the present tense of "To stay" (at) further complicated things. I did this Jumble on Tues and that 3rd word plagued me.
Unfortunately, the Eagles had left the story. Fortunately, Gandalf always has a hair up, Theoden called him "Stormcrow"*.

* The King of Rohan. And .. that was the appellation given to Churchill in the 30s.
Wilbur, maybe you could have had Bilbo duB an EAGLE with a breed like Snoopy's?
My very favorite canine reference in Shakespeare comes in Twelfth Night.
This is when Sir Toby, impressed by Maria's loyalty to his devious schemes, announces:
"She's a Beagle, true bred--and one that adores me!"
Dog lovers in the audience always get it.*
