The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

In the bottom storey of the skyscraper, Detective-Inspector Spooner came across his first clue toward solving the mysterious murder.
When he stepped into the waiting lift car he immediately found gore--blood spatter and bits of the victims' flesh and brain tissue.
"Hmm," muttered Spooner, "this will bear looking into."

We have debated the use of the solution to aid in solving a balky J. Today it was the opposite. I was stuck in #3 and thought I needed a D.
My second grade skills of copying letters failed me. Finally, I figured out the word but if I'd ignored the riddle-solution I'd have had it much quicker .
Misty, FLN, I had all ten J's and two riddle-solutions in my description of Bilbo going 'over the wall'.

Onward from the redoubt Bilbo crept quietly.
He was on solid ground and the pine floor
Aided his stealthy passage and his anxiety
Was abated. Of the direction he was unsure.
He must not drift from the path. If he used his noodle
He'd arrive unseen but then he fell, kit and kaboodle.
To the far flung corners of the elven camp
The splash was heard. "Come out, you little vamp!"

Didn't even need the clues, the solution was so obvious. But they were easytoo, though
clue three took a few extra seconds.
Wilbur, enjoyed your poem; chuckled to think of Bilbo as a vamp!
I rarely look at the cartoon before tackling the Jumble words, but the picture was so unusual that I did check it out this morning. Voila! There was the solution before I had even looked at any of the Jumble words. They fell right into place except for a little work on the third one. So my experience was similar to yours, Sandyanon. A fun Monday pleasure.
Wow! What a gory story, Ol'Man Keith. So all that blood and flesh and brain tissue belonged to a BEAR? Poor thing.
Wilbur, congratulations on having Bilbo do double duty yesterday. Enjoyed seeing all the words and solution appearing very cleverly in this morning's story. Hope somebody helps Bilbo dry off.
Misty, when he shows Thranduil and Bard the Bowman what "He's gots in his pockets" they'll be the ones all wet
Thx Sandy

Owen ~ I hope you'll be appearing soon.
I think I have an appropriate "dubbing" for you.
