"Tough Jumble"

Does anything rhyme with kiosk?
I think not, unless it's a mosque.
But runny is not only funny
but a sunny honey bunny.
Meekly turned out pretty weakly,
and cactus just pricked us and whacked us.
Still, this Jumble was fun--
no, no pun, not a one.
But at least we could track
it, word by word, front and back.
In the end it was fine,
if not a poetic gold mine.

"Same Old Story"
She curated her kiosk in a southwestern theme,
a cactus on the counter & a bone-bleached skull--
a bovine--perched on the newsrack's beam,
and a Georgia O'Keefe on the matte back wall.
"Still," she reflected, as she faced the cold street,
"I can't capture the comfort of my family's home
just outside of Phoenix in the sun-drenched heat.
I'm stuck now up North peddling newsprint and poems
by a dirty, runny gutter in a concrete canyon,
abandoned by my fiancé, not a nickel to my name,
fending for myself in the borough of Manhattan.
I'm scraping by, just barely, but without any shame."

"And that's my story," she muttered meekly, as if from afar,
to the reporter who tossed a quarter in her cracked tip jar.

Loved the sweet riff on "runny," Misty. You go in such a positive direction. For me, it was the word that leapt out & suggested something cold and urban-decadent.
Word associations are Rorschachs, for sure.

I tried to create a Spoonerism from today's solution to use as the title for my effort above. I only managed to re-cast the word "mine" with "time."
In the end I gave up and ran it with a standard mellerdramatic banner.
(Owen, if you're watching, I invite you to give it a shot.)

Well I'll have to forego the goings in Sherwood Forest as runny cactii are rare. Do, I composed this early this morning but comments weren't open yet.

I notice the same thing on CC where one of the regulars have to post first. Or am I missing something?

Being so early I altered some of the words so as not to blatantly give them away.

Sagebrush Sam had a shop in Abilene
A run-in with Sam was an event we weren't keen
To try. We meekly paid for whatever he asked
Not wanting ever to be taken to task.
"Pay up pronto for whiskey or wine"
Else you'd see Sam had a one track mind.

I decided to LIU Georgia O'Keefe

Sounds like Georgia might be similar to that kiosk lady. That link refers to the movie about her.

Two fun and delightful poems, Ol' Man Keith and Wilbur--I enjoyed them both--many thanks.

Thanks for the link, Wilbur.
I really wasn't aware of a NY side to O'Keefe; for me she has always been the artist of New Mexico.
The scales have fallen from my eyes.

Your "Sam" seems a formidable cuss. Did he wield shootin' irons? Or a baseball bat?
Or send his goons to break your knees?

I once ran out of gas driving about 3 AM outside of Abilene (TX). I had my sleepy 10 year old son with me. This was back in the fad days of CB radio, and I was able contact a local fire station. Those good ol' boys sent a ladder engine all the way out and gave me, for free, a half tank of gas.
Bless 'em!

I see what you did there, heheh. Last line, you solved the solution once again.

Misty ~ You inspire me to try your method.
Hah!
I really couldn't tell where this was going.
Each word presents new wonders/pitfalls.

You could certainly run a most successful kiosk
selling tickets in Seattle for the Seahawks.
But you mustn't let your nostrils get too runny
'cuz pandemic fears will block your clients' money.
The few who dare will approach you only meekly.
Maybe try for their pity with a tale sad & treacly.
Or you could stick to selling sticky cacti,
or chant choruses from Euripides' The Bacchae.

Wow! Terrific Jumble rhyme, Ol' Man Keith--I love it! Seahawks is a perfect rhyme for kiosks--much better than mosques. (Ok, so who are the Seahawks?). And 'treakly'! Haven't thought of that word in decades! Excellent poem, OMK!

Seattle Seahawks are NFL Team. Currently 5-1. CC had RAM recently or is it Fri or Saturday?.

And if course a seahawk is commonly in CW usage a TERN
