FLN, Misty ~ I hoped my final note to you suggested another approach to tricky rhymes.

Today’s haiku: Sometimes the absence of an elected rep loses an important vote—and misses a chance for a treat.
“A Rock Solid Adage”
A tum that’s hollow-
for-shrimp’s a droll reminder
of a vacant chair.

Uncle Charles was his usual droll self: "Been to the one dollar shrink*?"
"I have my own chair, uncle Charles " said Chet with a sly wink
"Forgive me Lois for sounding hollow. I still think of you as a kid "
"N'importe de quoi, ma tante, as you see Chet and I are
ROCK SOLID

* The suggested donation at AA is a dollar which pays for coffee, rent etc
The chairman Troll called the meeting to disorder.
"Let's get this done while we have our vile odor!
We're here to make plans, not for solid rock and roll!"
The assemblage all groaned at his humor so droll.
"We've got to do something about the evil Sun!
When its rays touch us, we are stones, weigh a ton.
It may take weeks for the lichen to revive us,
If we bell it with a hollow log, it can't surprise us!"
Others said they could shrink their time with more lichen
But reindeer eat the mosses, because they like 'em.
They argued thru the night till dawn's rosy fingers
Turned them all into statues, they became rocky figures!
The Sun, on the horizon, rose from the ocean.
The meeting was adjourned on that morning motion!
Vowel-rich start today.

Rock Solid
How droll to think
That someone would shrink
From sitting on that chair.
Even though it looks hollow
That does not make it unfit.
Rather, it is a great spot to sit.
"Silly Tale"
The fair girl was sitting in a chair
and had a little story to share.
It was silly, sad, and droll,
about the day she fell into a hole.
At first this made her shrink,
though she did her best to think.
Being stuck in such a hollow,
she remembered what directions to follow.
Her foot could feel a rock
which she began to sock.
This solid move got her back out,
and her friends their cheers did shout.
Yes, it was a silly tale,
but it made us all laugh and hail.
Woohoo! Woohoo! Thanks to your incredibly helpful hint, Ol' Man Keith, I got the Wordle on my very first try. I think that's the first time that ever worked for me. Woohoo! Many thanks, OMK.

Misty, I had a little hint on my early wordle post eg. ABLE(vv)
Quite a range of contributions this a.m.!
All the regulars have shown up, and chief among us is our leader, Owen, with one of his finest offerings. Chrmn Troll's nonsensical, chaotical meeting is a joy to read. I don't know which was the funniest line, but shrinking "time with more lichen" runs close to first.
~ OMK
My goodness, it's still pretty early and already delightful poems from everyone! Yay!
Always love your Jumble haiku, Ol' Man Keith, with all the words worked in. Or not, exactly--like turning that SHRINK into SHRIMP. Very clever.
So Lois speaks French, Wilbur? If so, who is her "ma tante"?
Interesting the way your verse began with that DISORDER creating a VILE ODOR, Owen. But, my goodness, I'd hate to live in a world under the rule of an EVIL SUN.
And CanadianEh!, we both rhymed SHRINK and THINK! Glad my fair girl didn't SHRINK from sitting in your hollow CHAIR. But falling down a hollow hole didn't help her much either.
Well, it's still a tough world but let's hope it stays ROCK SOLID.
CEh! ~ It was enlightening to read how you extol the virtue of a hollow chair.
I, too, might have been inclined to shrink from sitting on such a creation, but now I will probably give it a second thought.
Misty ~ When I was a kid there were many news stories about other kids falling into holes.
The whole nation would be on hold while first (and 2nd & 3rd) responders gathered at the sites, and the Army corps of engineers would show up with all their equipment.
Eventually they would either rescue or declare defeat in pulling children from these abandoned wells or drain pipes, or whatever.
Given this history, I breathed a deep sigh of relief that your "fair girl" could manage all by herself.
Whew!
~ OMK
WC ~ Good to see Uncle Charles is in good humor.
Drรดle aussi, Lois reminds Nora (& us!) that she & Chet are nearly petrified!
Misty ~ Aha! It wasn’t so clever of me. I just copied my J-word wrong, from SHRINK to SHRIMP, from memory to my iPad. (As I recall, I was hungry at the time.)
~ OMK
Way back when Charles and Nora were introduced I recall the "plume de ma tante"
I think now Lois preferred "ma tante" to auntie
Everyone was in great form today.
Thanks all!
