The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

My apologies to any early birds for not getting the blog up until nearly 3 am. It's been a bad day for me depression-wise. I bought a baby-monitor/intercom I now consider essential, but can't figure out how to make it work. Since I was a guru until Windows came out, this is very disturbing to my ego! I was in a funk, slept nearly all day. All my TV shows (Father Brown, Death in Paradise, sometimes another) were reruns didn'n help, either. S I never opened my 'puter until I opened this blog entry. Now on to the Jumble and crossword!
Not a problem, Owen, not at all.
I’m only sorry you’ve had a rough time. But I just arrived here, well after you got things up & running.
I was up late, watching the TCM re-run of Eyes Wide Shut, which I’d forgotten runs a full three hours.
(Let me put in a plug, that it’s a much better film on 2nd viewing.)
Anyway, thanks again for re-launching us.

FLN—WC ~ Thanks for giving us more of Chet & Lois.
Nice to see how Chet is calming, as confirmed between Nora and Lois. Now we can look forward to the actual rite and celebration!

Today’s Jumble Dizain: Cats are not born with an innate ability to catch or swing at a flying object.
This may be labeled a…
“Directive Defect”
(until it is adjusted.)
If a feline isn’t catchy at the start,
she can often be inveigled with a toffee.
Just toss a Werther or a Sweetheart,
or even one that’s flavor-laced with coffee.
The cat will probably try to bat it,
to adopt a handball player’s form. At
each projectile she’ll swing just like a racquet.
She’ll get so good she need no longer work at
it. // Myself, I’ve seen them spinning like a vortex—
enough to whirl my cerebellum cortex.

Owen- I would never arrive here before 7am EST. Hope you have a better day today.
I am starting off well this morning. Back later I hope.

Cause and Effect
Felines may seem lazy and sleepy,
But if smeared with toffee,
They twirl themselves into a vortex
Licking and preening.
For myself, a catchy tune
Playing on CD, radio, or whatever format,
Will be effective to have me dancing
As if no one was watching.
OMK- I never read the days poems before creating my own offering.
Interesting how we both took the feline in slightly different directions.
Well, CEh! we didn’t have much choice as regarding placing a cat front & center. The J-words saw to that.
As much as we may have enjoyed seeing a cat spinning in a vortex, I imagine your Kitty got a kick watching you!
No sign of Misty yet today. She seems to have switched places with me on this Sunday morn…

Owen, how terribly sorry that you had such a difficult early night with no sleep, but thank goodness you got some rest today. Keep taking good care of yourself. We care so much for you and your help.
Well, I got all six Jumble words and solution with no problem, but got stumped on how to work them into a poem for once. (Rhyming 'catchy' with 'patchy' wasn't going to sound real great).
So I'm very happy to see those two terrific cat verses from both Ol' Man Keith and CanadianEh!! Congratulations, and thank you both, for this set of delightful and much appreciated Sunday gifts!
Thankfully, thanks to OMK's always helpful clue, I did get the Wordle with no problem this morning:

Have a great Sunday, everybody.
EZ, PZ, Misty!
D'you prefer this cat or that? // That! She
seems much cudlier. Sure, she's patchy
with calico colors, but you really can't match three
nicer colors than that!
