Internet Purposes

Here’s a nugget of wisdom you mustn’t do without,
when you access social media to manage your account.
Use a snappy avatar to project your internet fame.
Never be a newbie or novice; don’t give out your name,
but let your title say “Power.” Make a truly potent choice,
a roaring lion perhaps—its import, a commanding voice.

Whatever you aim for, be sure it contains no clue
to the fidgety, fawning, fallible Fool—you!

Misty reports she is having a problem wth posting this morning. She attempted to post the following verse three times without success.
She emailed me to request that I publish it on her behalf. I am happy to oblige.

Here is Misty's poem:

"Puppy Love"

Connie had to confess
she had almost no social access.
So she got a sweet dog who was rugged
and treasured him like a nugget.

To make sure he wouldn't be snappy
she took him to pet therapy.
There he learned his owner to escort,
a companion of helpful import.

Her novice puppy was not expensive
and her love for him is intensive.
For all purposes their connection is sweet
and he will always be her best treat.

What a sweet verse! Thanks for this, Misty!

I agree with the sentiments entirely. A puppy, whether a novice a veteran, is never too "expensive" for the joy & companionship it brings.

I enjoyed the unexpected rhymes--the choice of "access" instead of the obvious "success"...
and especially the "snappy/therapy" combo. "Therapy" needs to be pronounced the wrong way, to echo "snappy"!

Ach! Even when I started out with four letters, it took me another three tries to get them in the right order, and then another guess for the final letter. (I chose B in guess four, and had already eliminated P. I suppose it could have been a C or H also.

Am going to try to thank you, and pray this might post, OMK. Thank you so much for posting this for me. I'm wondering if our other blog members are having the same problem I am. Thank goodness you were able to post your own delightful verse this morning, giving us great advice on how to post, and not post, on the Internet. Just wish it would work better these days.

The Wasteland

For all intents and purposes
My nation has universal, publicly funded healthcare.
Neither social class nor income determine access.

But even a novice can see
That there is only a nugget of truth in this.
When medications and dental care are not included,
Health can suffer.

Do we need to import the idea of privatization
From our neighbours to the south?
There is no snap answer.

Hi all,
My posts seem to be remaining today (even though my verse might be considered political?).

Yes, OMK, I have chosen to remain nameless online in public forums.
I have been surprised that no other Canadians have chosen to join me for any length of time on the CW blog. But many do read and chime in occasionally.

Misty- Connie made a wise choice in getting that puppy. Now she has a companion plus a reason to socialize. And she was a responsible pet owner to ensure that he would not be snappy!

WooHoo! You got through at last, Misty!
We seem to be prone to either random censorship, Jumble gremlins, or purely accidental tech lapses.
We nerds have no idea. Just grin ‘n bear it, as they say…

CanadianEh! ~ It doesn’t seem to have affected you, fortunately.
Enjoyed your title!
But for heaven’s sake, don’t try our brand of privatization. We have learned to our regret that all the tiers of HMOs and insurers and company plans exist to gouge more $$, each level taking its inflating cut.
Yes, we have great doctors— because they can make their fortunes here!
Meanwhile, we face bureaucratic office staffs, insurers’ red tape, & paperwork galore.

Every system has its flaws; they’re run by humans. But I suggest we look to the motherland for today’s model.
I have not explored this deeply, but the UK’s NHS is currently getting cheers even from Brit stand-up comics. That’s saying something!

It’s a tough W today w/o a hint, CEh!. Good for you, knocking it out in 5.
Your effort did not go… er, unrewarded. Glad you didn’t make no good use (sic) of your time.

Misty had a rough Jumble morning. She deserves a helpful hint.

CanadianEh!, yes, your thoughtful verse reminds me of the worrisome news we see on TV every night these days. Let's just hope and pray that things work out all right and get better in the end. And thank you, again, for your poem.
