There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!

|| kneel, reuse, fixate, topple, "expert-tease"
Comments are the lifeblood of a blog!
Read the comments, and reply to them if you are so moved!
Freedom of expression, is it just empty words today? Did Franklin Roosevelt really mean what he did say? Expression can lead to reform, changing social rules. Should we ignore the meaning, to fixate on the tools?
Colin Kaepernick knelt, his intent to raise awareness Of race injustice, police oppression and unfairness. To topple attitudes built on prejudice and hatred. Defamers reused his action, a straw-man was created.
They said he disrespected his country's armed defenders, Veterans and war dead, and current service members. Faux experts try to tease out nefarious dark intentions, Ignoring both the message, and freedom of expression!
Yay, love the poem, love the sentiment. You are truly master of the metered message, Owen.
The jumble was not difficult, except that for some weird reason I just couldn't figure out the first clue word for the longest time. Even had to work backward from the solution (which was fairly obvious once the x was part of it). Never really fond of Don Rickles' humor, though. I always saw him as more bullying than, say, teasing.
(Some nights I have a lot of trouble sleeping. It's great to be able to solve the Jumble right from this blog, and not have to wait for my morning Times. 1:23am in SoCal at this moment.)
Sandyanon, I too had trouble with that first clue--tried 7 different versions before I came up with the right one. And I sadly had to cheat once again to get the final answer. Not enough time otherwise. Will miss you guys this weekend and next week, but will be back on the Jumble next Thursday or Friday.
The reason I thought it was weird, Misty, is that "kn" is one of the most common combinations for the letter "k", but it never even occurred to me. Glad to know I'm not alone.

See you next week, Misty!
I had to write out lots of permutations for all but the last word, and took a lot of pondering to get the solution.
Have a great trip, Misty!
Now I remember . I had a long post but my finger hit the dreaded profile button.
Sandy, I hope you get relief . I too missed the KN but I finally got everything .
I thought SEX would be in the riddle somewhere . Each time I was bogged down in CC or J I switched to the other .
Nice tale . A veteran should never object to the display of free speech since that's what he fought for.
