|Smiley face| _chunk, onion, behold, pardon, an open book.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Behold: onion chunks.
Watch me gulp them down. Yum, yum!
Now,
pardon my breath…

2nd day in a row with 4 letters Present but none in their Correct position. Today was a tough one.

There were only a few five-letter-word choices from the LAT crossword today to start with, assuming that a Wordle answer never ends in S, and never uses proper nouns or hyphenated words.

I got lucky picking the one that had three letters that were Present.

"Cooking"

The chef a vacation took
in order to write her book.
Her recipes were bold
and amazing to behold.
She had to ask a neighbor's pardon
for taking some onions from her garden.
But in the end every chunk of food
was fabulous when chewed.

DH required no help today for the Jumble.

I agree that WORDLE was hard today. Too bad it wasn’t one of our hated CWs today TTP. (Why are your colours blue and orange? Oh, I see that you choose for colour-blindness?.)
Yes, I use hard mode, but I had to use “an already known as wrong” letter in row 4 to get some traction.

CanadianEh!, early on, I changed to High Contrast mode to test it after Desper-otto remarked that he was having trouble seeing the differences in the colors. After seeing the High Contrast mode difference, I was going to comment to him that he might change the setting. But by then, someone else had already suggested it to him.

I just never bothered to change it back because I liked the blue and orange better than the yellow and green.

Pretty good "Cooking" poem, Misty. I guess the Chef was taking a busman's holiday, continuing to run a kitchen while taking time off.
The "pardon/garden" rhyme landed well on my ear.
It's too bad we were saddled with the word "chunk," as I am pretty sure any chef worth her salt would prefer "morsel."

I see the friends of Wordle are becoming regulars.
Welcome to our Jumble home, guys! I wonder if you might make room to embed some of the Jumble hints?
When Owen founded this site, he led by example. including either the exact Jumble answers--or variations thereof--in each posting.
His medium is poetry, which a few of us are following--but any contribution, whether poetry, prose, or explanations of Wordle, can serve to offer Jumble hints.
Thanks for considering this.

Apologies for the offensive exhalation, Misty.
If you check back on the page today, do let me know that I'm forgiven.

I had the five letters for wordle but wasn't sure of the plural word and ended my last guess with a verb plural.

OMK you deftly employed the four J's.

Misty,, again you had a very readable poem that told a story,, used the Js and the riddle-solution. Bravo..

We've got problems my computer has died. I think I can use the tablet or my phone here to see what happens online but I don't think I can do anything about it. so Keith you have permission to flip today over and actually I've already got another one started but there's no writing it yet but if you could just go in and flip today over and we'll work it from there

Ol' Man Keith, I just want to thank you for another kind and generous commentary on my verse, with nothing whatsoever offensive in your response. Of course, "morsel" might be better, but we're stuck with the Jumble words and that's what we end up using. But your comment was a treat. And now onto your delightful verse! I had to look up "allium"--ah, a flower possibly including onion plants. Yep, I can imagine that might affect one's breath a bit. Lots of fun!

Wilbur, your incredibly sweet comments on my work make me so happy. Thank you so much for that too. And I'll look forward to your ongoing Chet and Lois conversation and story tomorrow!

Ol' Man Keith, thank you also for asking for some Wordle help. I'd love to learn how to do them, but still haven't figured the game out. Maybe if they involve some Jumble hints that would help.

It has been a while, and my memory is a real casualty. I do not recall how to flip the date. If you don’t manage to change it, I will try my best to work it out.
But I can’t promise anything.

My Wordle 310 (April 25) answers:

Wordle 310 4/6*
⬜🟦🟦⬜🟦 paste
⬜🟦🟦🟦⬜ leash
🟦🟦🟦🟦⬜ swear
🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 ASKEW

Misty, here's the link
https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html

Just type a 5 letter word in the first of the six rows. Then press enter. You can see from the above that I tried paste first. Three letters were present, but not in the correct position. I knew that three letters in the answer would be A, S and E

Then I tried leash. Again, the three letters were present, but not in the correct position.

Then I tried swear. Four present. None in the correct position. Now I knew the answer would have to have an A, S, E and W.

I also knew the P, T, L, H and R would not be in the answer.

After looking at the remaining available letters, and ruling out that there were no uses of the known letters (A, S, E and W), the only word that could fit was ASKEW.

The ? mark in the upper left corner will also give you the How To Play instructions.

I don't know how I could tie in Jumble words to Wordle.

OOPS !

this line should have read After looking at the remaining available letters, and ruling out that there were no DUPLICATE uses of the known letters (A, S, E and W), the only word that could fit was ASKEW.
