Wilbur, hi. It is only my general assumption that Wordles never end in an S. That is because I have played over 100 games and have only seen one winning answer end in S. That was Wordle # 267, when the winning word was FOCUS. Got that one in 3
So maybe it would be more correct to say that Wordles are never a four letter word that becomes a plural with the added S. In that case, your abyss might be a winning entry some day.

Misty, please see last night's Jumble page comments. I tried to explain how to play Wordle by breaking down how I got to yesterday's winning word. Hope that helps you. It's such a fun little game to play.
I did WORDLE before the Jumble today.
Unlike the CW, where I was the author of my own misfortune, and FIWed, I managed to wring a win from the Jumble. And there were two five-letter words that might be used as WORDLE starters another day.
But to drench my hopes, they may not have the most-used letters.
Instead of wading into the room, I used a different starter animal today, and made a lucky heist.

I couldn't find the Jumble today, but will look later tonight/tomorrow morning when the jumble words are revealed.

I had two possible answers in my mind when I got to the third row, flipped a coin, and chose the wrong one of the two. So I feel like victory in 3 rows was stolen.
In the meantime, I made a big mess in the kitchen this morning, so I am running late. I have to run to the home improvement store and I have to get the lawn mowed. It's growing so fast !

First, it seems that Chet and Lois are firmly together, if Chet can insult Lois, with affection, I'm sure.
Second, I had no idea about an author of Northman, but here's what I found about its putative connection to Hamlet:
Because of its connection to Shakespeare’s masterpiece, literary historians have long searched for the origins of Amleth’s story. Though a few scraps of text appear in earlier sources, the best-known medieval version of the tale is preserved in a multi-volume history of the Danes by the historian Saxo Grammaticus.

W/o naming names, I will add that while Lois is IDing Shakespeare, who was responsible for the most widely known adaptation of the Amleth tale, the author(s) of the current Northman movie are a popular one-named Scandinavian poet and the director/auteur himself.

The opening of "A Tale of Two Cities". Chet reverses it but Lois recalled the original.

But I learned interesting stuff from Northman. Thank heavens for the monasteries where Monk's would recopy manuscripts and that got us through the dark ages.
Irish monasteries had no qualms about what they copied and were immune from the popes interference.

Please, if you can still read the site, please post detailed instructions as to how I can "flip" the pages correctly. I only managed to change the date this time, without the entire cartoon page, and I did this only by a hit-and-miss accident. I did not keep a note.

But I think you can see how we all overlooked your intention to evoke Dickens. That famous first line uses antithesis--in drawing contradictory parallels--to describe the era.
It's kinda hard to guess it when the "thesis" lacks any "anti."
Like asking Who ever wrote about one city ... ?

TTP, how about Wordle words that end in a double S?
I can think of bliss, dress, cross, glass, truss as possibilities.
So at last I can participate along with the regular Wordle community. For quite a while, the NYT would let me access it, due to my weird browser, which it didn't recognize. But tried again today, just for laughs, and it let me in!!
However, I've been having fun with another website - wordlegame.org - which lets me play repeatedly, as often as I like. So now I have two options.
Also enjoy https://worldle.teuteuf.fr/ the geography version of Wordle, and 7littlewords.com. These two, alas, only allow playing once a day.

Thank you, thank you, TTP. I went to yesterday's Jumble and looked up your Wordle directions, and after almost an hour of playing around with it, I finally got it! Can I tell you the solution I got or is that not allowed?
And how do I get on Wordle tomorrow or the next day.

There's an art to incorporating J-words on any topic, even writing about one's Wordle experience of the day.
No word yet from Owen, neither here nor in my Email! If anyone else knows how to change the page over to Wednesday's date, please let me know.
Owen allows me to do the changeover, but I haven't done it in months, and have forgotten the steps to take.
I would love to be able to bring the cartoon and anagrammed words onto the page.

Poor news. It will be at least a couple days before I'll back online, maybe much longer. I will try to wrangle Bren's puter long enough to set up tomorrow, but I don't know how long it will be.

Hi all ! My day went from bad to worse. After getting marinade all over the counter this morning, I discovered that my Ziploc bag leaked on the refrigerator shelf when I finally got back inside after my shopping trip and mowing the lawn. Worse yet, the soy sauce based marinade was far too salty, and my pasta was was cooked well under al dente. The canned green beans were fine. Overall, my worst meal since I started "bacheloring it" over the last week.
Sandy, hi. Yes, There are plenty of words that end in a single S that aren't plurals of 4 letter words, and a number of words that end in double S. But in the 100+ games that I've played on Wordle, there has only been one winning answer that ended in S so far. Some of the knock off games might vary by having more S words in their word lists.
Misty, congratulations ! Glad that you got it. You can use that same link again tomorrow, and you will get a new game. Better yet, you can just bookmark that link for easy access every day.
As far as sharing the answer, the commonly accepted etiquette is to simply "Share" your result without revealing the answer, which might spoil it for other Wordle players. That is where the colored squares come into play.
When you solve the Wordle, a popup screen will appear with your personal statistics and the word Share. Click the word Share. Then you can simply place your cursor in the comments box of today's Jumble, and then press CTRL V (or use Edit Paste on your toolbar). That will do a paste, with the colored blocks that you have seen in the comments from Wilbur, CanadianEh! and from me.
If you forget, you can always reopen the Wordle game later and click the little icon in the upper right corner that looks like it might be 3 little buildings. That will bring up your "Statistics page" again and you will see the Share button. Give it a try. BTW, it is always OK to share your actual words the next day.
OMK, I did see what CanadianEh! did, and I tried to follow suit with a similar word, but because I had no idea what any of the Jumble words were today I was at a loss. Sorry that I cannot help getting the Jumble cartoon posted as Owen does. I'm not sure how he posts it, and I also wouldn't have access authority to do it.

I may not have time to do that every day, but I will try. Poetry is not my gift.

The cartoon I fiddle with a lot , so don't worry about it until you've become more confident. You flipped it over just fine last night, and that's all you HAVE to do!
On Wordle, I can't do it because it's incompatible with my browser for some reason. But I think it would be interesting to see JUST your starting word in addition to the colored blocks.
I'll try again, Owen, but as I said, it was hit-or-miss last night.
